Inspiring Conversations with April Carter of A&K Scrubs and more

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Carter.

April Carter

Hi April; we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is April Carter, and I am an entrepreneur, a psychiatric registered nurse, an author of “The Invisible Soul,” and a native of Newberry, South Carolina. I have four beautiful daughters and own A&K Scrubs and more, an online and mobile healthcare apparel store. I enjoy spending time with my girls and reading thrillers and murder mysteries. My favorite quote is, “If I can help somebody along this life journey, my living is not in vain. I have a very bubbly personality and love to help others. I have been working in mental health for over 15 years, and I started as a CNA, then LPN, and now RN.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road has been challenging due to hearing many no’s, a lot of naysayers, and thoughts of giving up. I consistently blocked out negative energy to get to where I am today. I am also an Author of the book called The Invisible Soul, where I talk about my story.

Thanks for sharing that. Could you tell us more about your business?
A&K Scrubs and More is an online and mobile retail store established in 2020. At A&K Scrubs and more, we offer medical scrubs, compression socks, badge reels, nursing shoes, and more. We set up different facilities, offer payroll deductions, and offer a more personal experience. We are set apart from other scrub companies because we are family, nurse-owned, and operated. We ensure our customer service is a top priority. We are excited about our name and what A&K means- A&K means April and Kids. Sign up for our email list for exclusive deals, new releases, and giveaways.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is important when you have a business. I always say scared money doesn’t make money. I took a risk in starting my business and investing in inventory and a coach to help me through.
