Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Tysse.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
You may have heard the quote, “we teach best what we most need to learn.” by Richard Bach? Even at an early age, I knew that I had fears and wounds that I wanted to heal.
Traditional counseling had certainly helped me clarify that which needed to be healed but it only brought me to a certain point in my healing. The next chapter of my journey in healing would require me to take a dive into the unknown.
At some point in this journey, I had to decide what I truly wanted in my life. I asked the universe to show me the way to my purpose. And it was as if the Universe responded with… “You really want to know what your purpose is?”
“Well, ok, but it’s going to get rough and I’m first gonna have to kick your butt in order for you to clear out some false beliefs you have about yourself.” Then the universe proceeded to kick my butt in various ways for the following six years. What was on the other side of that journey was liberation and the tools that teach me how to respond skillfully to what comes my way rather than react to what life throws at me through various spiritual practices and training. I would like others to experience this kind of freedom.
Reiki, which originated in Japan, is the undercurrent of my practice, however, I include other modules of healing depending on what each client requires in a session. I work with both animals and people. In this everchanging environment, that we live in these days, it is necessary more than ever to learn how to “go with the flow.”
This is my work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business for the first time and really embracing who I was as a practitioner required me to let go of expectations of how my business would evolve. Letting myself be guided to the next right step and following a flexible business model puts me in alignment with the people and animals I am meant to work with.
The Pandemic has been a time of small businesses collapsing, however, with people’s fears coming up with Covid and their animals reacting to it, my business has done well.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Palmetto Animal Reiki (Serving Animals and Their People). Reiki is an alternative/holistic approach to the welfare of you and your animal. My commitment is to assist those in need of guidance and relief that western medicine alone does not always provide.
This practice embraces “Master level” Reiki training, Theta Healing techniques, the Ancient Yoga teachings, as well as energetic counseling. Our animals are affected by our energy all of the time.
My work is to help animals and humans release emotional burdens, finding a better balance in their daily lives while creating a deeper bond and happier life.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My business has grown organically through word of mouth and connecting with like-minded people in animal-related businesses. Always make sure that your work is genuine and from the heart. Everything starts with intention. What we put out into the world, comes back to us.
So, make sure that you have a clear understanding of what you want and what you want for your clients. Learn how to truly listen to your clients… (this is something I have had to learn myself). And finally, have fun!
Finding joy in your life is energy. In fact, everything is energy. When you are in your joy, it is an energy that touches everyone you come into contact with, including your animals.
