Hidden Gems: Meet Shabazz Morningstar of The Royal Falcon Brand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shabazz Morningstar.

Hi Shabazz, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was an adolescent, I had the urge to run my own business. A natural-born leader is what my peers called it. From 2nd grade to 6th grade, I was in school selling wrestling pictures, candy, snacks, and drinks bringing home around thirty dollars a day. My demand for my business grew so fast that I hired classmates to sell products on my behalf and I paid them a commission. Growing up in my grandmother’s hair salon with my mother gave me the desire to grow an empire with my name on it. As I got older, I did not have the urge to sell food and beverage anymore. I still wanted to run a business but I didn’t know what it was until I graduated high school. I was raised by my parents to help those, especially when I can. In the summer of 2017, a family that I knew lost everything in a house fire. A friend of mine, who later became a co-founder of Royal Falcon Brand, Ayanah Howard reached out to me to see if there is something we can do. That one phone she made to me started Five+ years of community services and giving back to the community. In those five years, Royal Falcon Brand was born and we donated over 10K dollars to homeless shelters, funded scholarships & sponsorships, opened music studios and distribution labels, free fitness programs, a podcast, and an amazing merchandise line.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business, in the Charleston metro is hard, especially as a man of color. You either had people who did not believe in you, did not trust you, or wanted to see if you can be successful first before they support you. Those things could be discouraging to the average person but not me. I took all the hate and negative feedback I got as motivation to prove to everyone that what I want to do will be a success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Royal Falcon Brand is a lifestyle management company. No, we don’t tell you how to live your life, but in a world full of dreamers we experience too many dark days. So Royal Falcon Brand was born to be the incubator of success for those dreamers’ dreams. Since our creation, we branched off into 5 stems of business. Our first branch is called I26 The Label. I26 is a music distribution label where we sign and teach young or older artists the basics of making music. We help create them to be the artist they want to be by offering studio time, photoshoots, and graphic designs. Our second branch is our Podcast, Morningstar Radio. Morningstar Radio is the podcast for anyone to come on to express their feelings, tackle relationship or social problems and even promote their business. Morningstar Radio has been in 112 countries for the past two years with only 6 seasons. Our Third branch is Fitness. Our fitness program, called Falcon Fitness, is an everyday life workout routine. We specialize in understanding what our clients want and helping them reach their health goals. And the best part is, that we do not charge to workout. Our fourth branch is the community. Our fourth Brand really started everything off, but Royal Falcon serves the people. We help put fundraisers together, and community projects, or donate our time to show the community that people care. And our last branch is merchandise. Our merchandise line is the heart of Royal Falcon because it represents our personality. We create many versions of iconic materials for our supporters to wear and represent the brand on the go.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I am a strong believer that energy matches energy. If you are looking for someone who has the same morals and beliefs as you then stay true to what you believe in as long as it’s right and the right people will come and find you.
