Today we’d like to introduce you to RaSheay Jacques.
Hi RaSheay, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in downtown Charleston, SC at a young age I enjoyed creative projects which ranged from writing to playing in hair and makeup. I originally wanted to be a professional makeup artist when I was in high school. I knew early on I didn’t want a traditional career path which people didn’t really understand. I started a YouTube channel to express my love my makeup and started freelancing my senior year of high school. It wasn’t until college when I realized my love for social media and that’s where I wanted to transition. I studied public relations at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC where I met my mentor Courtney Schofield and joined her in building an all-female black-owned branding and marketing agency.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life wouldn’t be what it is if it was a smooth road. Like most people, I’ve experienced losses that have changed my life in so many ways. My mother passed away from breast cancer when I was 8 years old. Navigating life without her has been a challenging learning experience, I was raised by my father and grandmother who were very traditional and wanted me to follow a traditional way of life but not wanting that and being afraid of failing and letting them down caused conflict within myself. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety.

The Cache Agency is a tailored branding and marketing agency. We focus on social media, branding, and marketing. I am the director of social media and digital. I specialized in social media strategy, management, content creation, and copywriting.
We are a black-owned female lead agency where we work with female business owners to help their vision. Which I’m extremely proud of, that brings me the greatest joy.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice to people just starting out is to always be coachable, to be a sponge and soak up as much information that you can. Especially if you’re looking to go into social media or communications, it’s an industry that’s always changing. Get a mentor and always do your best because at the end that’s what matters.
