Hidden Gems: Meet Coaches’ Wives Night Out

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coaches’ Wives Night Out. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Coaches’ Wives Night Out is just that. It provides a wonderful opportunity for coaches’ wives, fiancés, girlfriends, and retired coaches’ wives from all sports to interact with other ladies with similar stories and provide encouragement. A night full of shopping, raffle prizes, wonderful speakers, and amazing fellowship. Founder & Chair of CWNO, Erica Hardin, wife to Blair Hardin, River Bluff football head coach and athletic director, had a vision when moving to Lexington, SC to bond the ladies in the area. With one child at the time, working a full-time job, and a husband with a busy schedule, she saw the need for a night for women in a similar position. With the help of Co-Chair, Jennifer Giugliano, wife to Anthony Giugliano, a River Bluff football coach, and Kohl’s national divisional training coach, these two ladies were able to bring their vision to life. This year our event has grown and we are honored to have a committee team to help us carry out the planning and prepping process of CWNO. Solmaz Chadwell, wife to Jamey Chadwell, Coastal Carolina head coach, and Kellie Lindler, wife to Rome Lindler, a River Bluff Football Coach have come on board as committee specialists.

This will be the 5th annual CWNO event held at Embassy Suites in Columbia, SC. Local vendors are open for the start of our event; as ladies began to enter, they were able to indulge in shopping and mingling with other coaches’ wives. A full Fiesta Buffet is planned to be served. Every lady has a chance for their ticket to be drawn to select a prize from some of the many amazing gifts donated from many local companies and vendors.

This year’s theme is pre, in, and post-season. This year’s event includes three wonderful speakers that will share their perspectives on each season of life they are in. Speakers will be Katie Thomas, wife to Jacob Thomas, Lenior-Rhyne University’s Offensive Line Coach, Angela McGuire, wife to Mike McGuire, University of South Carolina Upstate Baseball Coach, and Peggy Nibert, wife to Gregg Nibert, Spartanburg Day Basketball Coach, who also coached at Presbyterian College for 28 years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
CWNO means everything to us, we pour our hearts into every detail and aspect of the event. Our heart’s desire is that every lady that attends feel encouraged and possibly gain new connections with other ladies that get the coaching life. As we prepare, we also are juggling our own lives, and sometimes we can get discouraged or weary but through those times that’s when it helps to have a partner. We encourage each other in those moments and remind ourselves why we do this. Then the event is over and we are immediately so amped up that we start to plan for next year.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Coaches’ Wives Night Out?

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That being a coach’s wife is amazing, hard, and lonely all at the same time. Many don’t get this coaching life and by building this community it makes you feel like you aren’t alone.
