Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley King.
Hi Haley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Surfside Beach. I got a job at a dessert shop while I was going to school to be a Physical Therapist. The longer I worked there, the more I realized I loved serving people more than being a physical therapist. We opened in April 2022 and it has been such a wonderful journey. I’ve had so much support from my family and the community! Because of this, our main focus is trying to be apart of the community and give back in any way we can. Our name, “Stella’s” is actually named after my 11-year-old German Shepherd rescue.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a fairly smooth road to be honest. We have some great friends in other states that own homemade ice cream shops that have been able to help with any recipe issue we may have had. We did get a little busier than we originally expected but we had friends and family help out where they can. It’s really been a wonderful first 5 months being open and we have gotten to the point where we are now expanding to downtown Conway!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in true homemade ice cream that is made in-house, and although we have come up with some creative flavors like Carrot Cake ice cream, and Cinnamon Roll ice cream, we still have the classic flavors like Cookie Dough and Oreo. We are set apart from others because we are very transparent about us making our own ice cream so that we can ensure great, quality flavors! We also offer other bakery items like cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops that are also all made in-house! Although we are a new small business, we have been named Top Rated Ice Cream Shop in South Carolina on Google!
How do you think about happiness?
We love creating a fun and friendly atmosphere for our community to visit and enjoy some fun, creative and delicious ice cream that they wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else. It makes us happy going in every day, putting smiles on other people’s faces and hearing about how they love our product and their experience. It also makes me so happy that my dog is the one that gets the spotlight. We have people that will call or message us asking when Stella will be at the store so they can meet her. It’s the sweetest thing.
