Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Hayes.
Hi Dana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started searching for my purpose about 5 years ago when I began working as an online marketing coach. I wanted to help my clients to dig deeper and unveil their purpose in life so we could make it their overarching message for their businesses…problem was I didn’t know how to do that for myself. So, I began asking the Universe every single day to show me the path. I read well over 50 personal development, marketing, spiritual, and coaching books over the next two years, searching for the secret formula. I tried creating my own secret formula, but to no avail, because nothing worked. I never felt a true change within myself, so I had a hard time delivering something I felt was fraudulent to the rest of the world.
I meditated every day as well. Asking for a breakthrough. One day, I was given the vision. Out of nowhere, I saw that I was an alcoholic. And if I didn’t ask for help immediately while the vision was fresh, I would never find the answers I was searching for. So I went that next morning. And when I arrived to the 12 steps meeting, I experienced my second revelation – which was that I was being given a path (a spiritual path) for clearing out what kept me addicted not only to my substances of choice but also to my past way of thinking. And by clearing out the disempowering energy from my past that kept me bound to these addictions, I knew intuitively that I would successfully become spacious enough to hear/see/know my purpose, and I’d finally found the path to share with others who wanted the same.
For 2 years, I did nothing but follow that spiritual path for clearing out that disempowering energy from my past, allowing new and fresh energies to flow in. I learned what worked for me and what didn’t. I dismantled my marketing business, knowing it was best for me and all others involved because when I came back, I’d have something with depth and weight to share.
So here I am now working as a Spiritual Healing Mentor using bits and pieces of the 12 step process I’d learned that worked best for me…particularly the part where I was taught to take radical responsibility for my past experience of life, which gave me a completely new perspective on the abundance that’s available to me/us when we’re cleared enough to be receptive to it…as well as bits of my education in psychology and pieces from my unfolding education in spiritual psychology (or transpersonal psych) to help people who are ready to evolve and fully embody the most empowered versions of themselves to reclaim their power from their past, so they’re able to see the world with a fresh new perspective and experience receptivity to life from a higher level of consciousness and state of being.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In some ways, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, giving up the life I knew, drinking and smoking daily to deal with my emotions, and beginning a new life without knowing how the hell it was going to go.
But on the other hand, it was the easiest decision I’ve ever made because the clarity was there. I knew I was being guided, and if I’d just participate in the plan, I would be okay, better than okay…of course, I had no idea how good life was really about to get, and that’s the beauty of what I teach and the life I lead. Having faith in something bigger than myself over and over again has opened doors I would have never even seen, and the more I trust and act on this faith, the more I’m shown and the more in awe of life I get to live.
So yes, there have been obstacles, but I think the process itself has made these obstacles much more digestible and even desirable in some cases because when I’m truly aligned, I know that what looks like an obstacle is really just an opportunity in disguise.
We’ve been impressed with Living in Power, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Living in Power is the name of my coaching business. I specialize in helping other heart-centered people who are already walking a path of self-awareness to learn how to transform their path of self-awareness into a path of self-actualization. The way I do this is by showing them how to use a spiritual plan of action to help them turn their past into their power. The people who come into my world know they’re the thing that stands in the way of their next evolution of self, but they don’t know what to do with the self-awareness or how to actually change their negative thinking, so they’re able to finally move on and evolve. So, I show them how to not only catch their own ways of thinking but how to rewire it in real-time using a technique I call Belief Reversal Therapy.
I help them to take full responsibility for their thoughts in the moment, and in that process/practice, they’re able to see why they’re having them in the first place, the fears that are keeping them replaying their negative patterns of thinking they developed as a reaction to their past experience of life, and how to see them from a completely different perspective, one of soulfulness, non-fear and truth, so they’re able to slowly but surely break their past cycles of thinking and behavior and begin living life in a fresh, happy, loving, present and stable way – which all comes from the understanding that your higher self (your spirit) is the truth and its perspective is the one you want to obey because it’s the only one that provides perfect freedom by doing so.
Happiness, joy, freedom from their own negative reactions to life. All of that resides within our higher selves or our souls. So, my job is to help clear people of the one thing that keeps them detached from that sacred, empowered space within – their past. If I was able to change the past, I’d effectively be able to change who they are today because our past is what gives us our current ideas, opinions, and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us.
I can’t change the past. But what I can do is change their past experience of it. I can show them how to take full responsibility for their experience and how to clear out the negative version of their past so they become clear enough to be able to fully accept the new power from their higher self that wants to flow in. Once the past has been cleared, and they accept that there’s a fresh perspective and way of thinking available to them, the newness flows. The natural power from their higher self now has space to flow in, and this gives them the new life experience of empowerment.
What sets me apart from others is my experience with my method and teachings. I don’t just regurgitate what I learn from books – although I love learning, I believe my knowledge comes from the genuine embodiment of my own teachings.
In other words, I practice that I preach. My life has been changed by this spiritual guidance I now teach, and because of that, I believe I have more than information to give; I have a true transformation, an energetic shift to give to others who want it.
I want people to know that we are all addicted to our own egotistical ways of thinking, and the way to experience life in a fresh, light, joyful way is by breaking that addiction and filling ourselves with the deepest power we possess in our soul. And once that’s fulfilled, we’ll have nothing to fear and nothing left to want, and then and only then will we be at peace with ourselves and the world around us. And that’s the goal of Living in Power. To give you a way to end the addiction to your past, painful egotistical patterns of thinking and give you a new, empowered, soulful perspective to live by.
It’s simpler, lighter, more loving, and much more fun than living in the past cycles of thoughts that get us nowhere and make us more discontent as the days go on.
The Living in Power programs are made to create lasting change and offer a path to never-ending self-discovery, growth, and genuine life fulfillment by harnessing the power of true spirituality in action as opposed to theory.
As of the time of this article being published, I offer 1-1 coaching packages but will soon be offering weekend healing retreats and short-term intensives.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by my genuine happiness.
If I’m truly at peace and able to allow myself to just be, I know I’m going in the right direction.
Nothing else in life is as enjoyable when my peace or presence is being disturbed.
I always put my spiritual recovery before anything else, and by doing so, everything else just seems to fall into place.
My personal success = my personal happiness.
