Hidden Gems: Meet Claudia Bolivar of Belca Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Bolivar.

Hi Claudia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Venezuela and have lived in South Carolina since 2003.

I came to this country at the age of 16, along with my mother and older brother. Throughout my adult life, I have worked multiple jobs, from cleaning commercial buildings to working in construction on various tasks.

In 2015, being unemployed, and as a single mother of an 11-month-old boy (which was born prematurely at 28 weeks), through a friend of mine, I found a job as a receptionist for a small health insurance agency.

I knew absolutely NOTHING about the industry, but as the days went by, I started to fall in love with this field, the customer service, and being able to help them, I simply LOVED it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many challenges. Emigrating to a country you don’t know, with a language and a culture that is completely different from yours is tough.

The key is to accept, trust and humbly receive what life has in store for you. When I was in my country, I dreamed of being a graphic designer, working in a big city; I never imagined doing all that I have done and much less being a financial advisor because I really hated maths.

However, now I see that everything served as a great school to get me to where I am, and I feel very grateful for that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Four years ago, I became independent. I work from my office or virtually (the industry changed a lot because of COVID-19).

This is something that makes me immensely happy because I have the opportunity to take people by the hand, get to know them, and find out what they really need. My mission is to help families reduce existing debts, to be financially free, and be adequately protected.

I have a wide variety of products and services that include Health Insurance, Supplemental Insurance, Life Insurance, Indexed Investments, Retirement Plans, etc., which are designed to prepare families through financial education so they can achieve their goals and maintain them over time.

In addition, we are constantly incorporating new services into our portfolio. My purpose is to ensure that, through our financial products and services, families save money and use their income efficiently, achieving higher levels of wealth.

It’s hard to think of names because I don’t want to leave anyone out, but every single one of my clients, friends, and family in the US, and in different countries where are, who throughout the years had believe in me, in my potential and my dreams.

The biggest inspiration for me has been my son Caleb. He has been an example of overcoming obstacles, of giving your ALL to succeed.
