Hidden Gems: Meet Carson Findlay of Sassy by Car Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Findlay.

Hi Carson, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I launched Sassy by Car Boutique in May of 2021. My name is Carson so it’s called Car for short and Sassy because my mom’s best friend called me Sassy as I was growing up. I was in school at the time at Coastal Carolina University and I wanted to have a part-time job. I started working at Francescas which is a franchise of women’s boutiques. The more I started talking to customers, finding what they like, how to pick clothes for the customers, how to do mannequins, and how to do set up in the stores it started making me realize I wanted to own my own boutique. I got where am I today by pushing my online sales as well as doing popups around the community to get my name out. It isn’t easy opening up your own boutique but it is worth it. I have met so many amazing people, learned a lot about myself, and realized I can do anything.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it has been smooth or hard because every new business has its ups and downs. My biggest struggle along the way has been learning to let go and not trying to control every aspect that involves my boutique. One example would be I had a website designer helping me start my website and it was hard for me to not be able to do it myself and not knowing what needs to be done or what has already been done.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a fully online women’s boutique that does popup shops around the Horry County area for locals to shop in person. I carry women’s clothing sizes ranging in sizes from S-L as well as carrying accessories and shoes. Behind the scenes is where the boutique comes together. My mom is a big helper for my boutique where she helps tagging and pricing the clothes as well as coming with me to the popups and taking the pictures of the products for the website. My job is to steam the clothes, social media content, update the website, edit the pictures, and to load the pictures as well as product descriptions on the website. I believe what sets me apart from others is I respond to my customers within two hours and I do same-day shipping or next-day shipping when you order after 3 pm. When people come to shop with me, I always want them to feel as confident and make sure no matter what picture you take you will always look good in that outfit.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best thing I like about North Myrtle Beach is the small-town atmosphere. The least thing I like about North Myrtle Beach is the traffic, especially in the summer.
