Exploring Life & Business with Valerin Trabanino of Vals Painting / El Gallo Bar&Grill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerin Trabanino.

Hi Valerin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story started when I graduated from high school preparing for the Real-world ambition to earn money. I started when I was maybe 14 years old earning 15$ per day for my first-weekend work saving all the money to take me shopping I was very fashionista and glamorous to go to school (high school) wasting all my paycheck on myself but very happy to take very good care of myself cause why not love yourself at the age of 17-18 when I finally graduated from high school, I was very happy to finish school I didn’t like school (-I hope my family does not see this-) I always liked to work hard and I heard construction work pays “good” my brother convinces me to work travel with him our first real work experience getting paid 12$ per hour I lied on my resume by telling the company I was a Pro painter the first day I got fired the contractors wives noticed I didn’t have experience at all my brother was very good at it but definitely not me the next project was in South Carolina ending up work traveling to Charleston from Alabama. I loved it here immediately but still living in Alabama back and ford meeting people from all the states on our travel my parents decided to stay in chs but my brother and I liked to party a lot so we decide to keep traveling away from them my brother falls in love with a girl so he left me I decide to stay in Charleston finally because I was not going to travel alone. I got an opportunity of working as an electrician and we I go, lying on my resume again this time I did not get fired my skills at panel wiring were brutal I got promised the second week still working with my loyal partner “my brother” I love him very much we have always been really close till I stared telling what to do, he did not take that very well. I decide to move out of my parents at 18 years old I got my apartment on Clement’s ferry Rd that place was very pretty. Met the love of my life working on a construction project at the South Carolina port offices. I knew he was the guy I wanted to share adventures with sharing our visions and goals we decide to save money to open a restaurant.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggled a lot nothing in life is easy some people have lucky others like me have to work hard to get where we want to be in life using all the mistakes to make it better and lessons.

Appreciate you sharing that. What
I have two companies a Construction company named “Vals painting” we specialize in commercial and residential Painting Luxury wallpaper installation Drywall and more. Mexican Restaurant we have the best food located in 2601 Clements ferry rd. named: “El Gallo Bar and grill come visit us I really recommend trying my favorite dish is called “CHURRASCO GUATEMALTECO”.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
Yes, many times, I took a risk in 2020 and decide to open the restaurant during a pandemic year it was a very hard year but blessed on the other side with the painting business. Losing is a very important lesson in our life it teaches us what not to do again makings us strong and forcing us to do better by not making the same mistakes again.
