Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Bolt.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
It all began with a labor of love – a treehouse built by Seth and his dad, Larry, for our wedding in South Carolina. It was hand-built; we got married there and honeymooned there. It was a beautiful and significant experience. Those honeymoon days spent immersed in nature sparked a dream. We craved space to reflect, plan our future, and appreciate the importance of our surroundings. We wanted to share that experience with others. So, we took a leap of faith. We sold our house and poured everything into building this unique space. Our initial plan was to develop more treehouses in Charleston, but unfortunately, regulations prevented that. Undeterred, we decided to start anew. During the pandemic, we found a stunning mountaintop property in Whitwell, Tennessee. There, we built our first 10 villas. Thanks to our incredible team, we’ve nearly doubled in size since then. Bolt Farm has come a long way from that first wedding day treehouse, but the core mission remains the same: to provide a unique escape where guests can reconnect with nature and themselves.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Not exactly. The journey of building Bolt Farm from the ground up, quite literally, has been a series of challenges. Running any business is a test of endurance, from navigating permitting hurdles to weathering the unpredictable elements – rain or shine, construction always presents its challenges. We’ve learned some tough lessons along the way, some that came with a significant price tag, but these trials have only served to strengthen us and make us more resourceful. We’ve emerged from each challenge better equipped to handle whatever comes our way, a testament to our team’s resilience and adaptability.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Bolt Farm Treehouse, we’re all about creating unforgettable escapes in a unique and natural setting. Here’s what makes us stand out:
- Treehouse Magic: We specialize in handcrafted luxury treehouses, each nestled amongst the Tennessee mountains. It’s a chance to reconnect with nature in a comfortable and stylish environment, far from the everyday hustle.
- More Than Just a Room: We go beyond basic accommodations. Our treehouses are fully equipped villas, offering everything you need for a relaxing stay, from cozy fireplaces to private decks with breathtaking views.
- Overcoming Challenges: We take pride in overcoming obstacles. From navigating permitting hurdles to battling the elements during construction, we’ve learned valuable lessons that have made us a stronger and more resourceful team.
- Focus on Sustainability: Preserving the environment is a core value. We use sustainable practices whenever possible, and our location allows guests to immerse themselves in nature’s beauty truly.
- Unforgettable Experiences: We want our guests to leave Bolt Farm with memories that last a lifetime. It’s more than just a place to stay; it’s an opportunity to unwind, reconnect, and create lasting bonds with loved ones.
Bolt Farm offers a unique escape that caters to those seeking a connection with nature, luxurious comfort, and unforgettable experiences.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
That’s a great question; success is a moving target. It depends on where we are on the journey. For me, a big part of it is seeing Bolt Farm not just as a business but as a place for growth – both for ourselves and our guests. We strive to improve and constantly offer unique experiences. Still, it’s incredibly rewarding to see guests leave feeling refreshed, inspired, and maybe even a little closer to their own best selves. That connection is what makes it all worthwhile.
