Exploring Life & Business with Tamika Sherman of Artistically Graced Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Sherman.

Hi Tamika, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my social media management company, Artistically Graced, in 2019 after discovering small business owners wanted to keep up with social media. Still, they needed more time to manage social media because they were focused on client services. After developing content and covering events as the social media manager for a local DJ in Columbia, SC, the agency was launched. Before scaling Artistically Graced into a full agency, I used my business management skills to improve administrative services, human resource functions, and finance transmittals for state and government organizations. With a B.S. in fashion merchandising, my love for fashion has never died, and I’m currently using my creativity in content creation.

Would it have been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The entrepreneurial road could have been smoother. As a new entrepreneur early on, it was tough building the confidence to assert the value of my services, mainly because this is not a well known industry, and people often need to understand the value of outsourcing social media management. Social media management is highly undervalued as an extension of marketing. I have come across many business owners who lack an overall marketing strategy and don’t have a basis for understanding what I do. Over time, I’ve learned ways to share value while helping others without compromising income potential.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Artistically Graced is a full-service social media agency specializing in social media management, content creation & planning, and brand aesthetic design. Partner services range from social media coaching to content development and planning, where we help businesses and brands learn how to capture and strategize social media content. DIY services include graphic template design and strategy development. Full-service options are available for busy individuals who need us to plan, curate, and manage their social media accounts. I also provide as-needed services such as logo design, event correspondent coverage, and website updates. One of my favorite services includes capturing content directly and crafting authentic content for brands and businesses. The social media industry is growing nationwide, but I am one of very few in the area. One of the projects I am most proud of is a logo I designed for a local business that now uses it for advertising their business on a post on the major road their business is located in. I love riding down the road and seeing my design in person and visible to the entire city. I am passionate about helping businesses and brands maximize their social platforms to leverage their space in the huge internet world. I am a faith-based entrepreneur, and I am proud to serve others in such a creative way.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
For new entrepreneurs, I recommend researching and planning out all aspects of the business before pushing full scale. Once the business gets going and starts to increase, it takes time to play catch up trying to set up back office items like bank accounts and formal structure documents. Never skip a step in pre-planning because you will wish you had not.
