Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Fogle.
Hi Nick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got into screen printing b/c I wanted to make BMX and band t-shirts when I was about 23 and I have been screen printing for just over 13 years now. I knew I wanted to eventually start my own shop after working and learning the trade at a few shops in town. In 2018 I bought my first press and started Screened Out Printers. Over the last 4 years and 2 presses later, I have grown the business into what I think is one of the better screen printing shops in town. I look forward to what the future holds for the business and myself.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not all smooth sailing starting a business. I’ve had my share of challenges but I believe that it just comes with the territory and I try to make the best out of every situation and grow and learn from those experiences. What can happen will happen and probably at a horrible time. I just try to roll with the punches.
Growing at a pretty fast rate has been one of the biggest challenges. I also held a full-time job during the first 3 years of the business. That slowly became a difficult lifestyle working 40 hours for someone else and then coming home and doing the same for yourself. (Thankful for a patient wife)! The past year fully working for myself only has helped the work/home life balance.
We’ve been impressed with Screened Out Printers, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business Screened Out in February of 2018. We specialize in screen printing garments such as t-shirts, hoodies, hats, totes, and so on. We strive for perfection and will settle for excellence. We offer high-quality t-shirt printing with a variety of styles and ink options. We will help you through the design process and even design for you. Only a few shops in town offer water-base and discharge ink when printing and we look to dive more into that direction as we grow. If you are looking for shirts or apparel for your business, brand, event, band, or party we will deliver high-quality shirts and prints for your project.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve definitely had some great mentors along the way and still do to this day.
On the screen printing skill/production side I would not be where I’m at today without the help of two guys Ben, and Chris. They have taught me a ton about printing throughout the years and are just great guys all around.
The other mentor I’ve been lucky to have is Max. He gave me an opportunity to somewhat help run a business and go through the nuances of everything that comes with owning a business. Also a great guy!
