Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Troyer. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Matt and Beth Troyer, owners and founders of Charleston Amish Furniture, are both from the Amish heritage and were married in 2002. Matt and Beth live in Charleston SC with their 3 sons Vincent Dawson and Carson who are also involved, in forming a strong family-owned business.
Matt was born in Ohio and Beth was born in Pennsylvania. Their unique entrepreneur journey began when they launched Foothills Amish Furniture in Landrum SC in 2005. They now have a 2nd retail store in Charleston SC since 2017.
Initially, they battled through hardships and doubts, barely making ends meet, but giving up was not an option, so they persisted with a purpose-driven destiny in mind.
Together, with Matt’s focus on vision and Beth’s attention to detail, they formed a strong business team, while implementing the Amish values of persistence, hard work, loyalty, and honesty. Quality is at the core and is the heartbeat of how they operate a business, creating a solid steady climb to excellence while providing exceptional customer care.
Their hobbies include relaxing at the beach, fishing in Alaska, camping, trying new restaurants, achieving fitness goals, and running obstacle course races.
Having contact with many clients and individuals, it is their goal to help those despairing with addictions, to eliminate doubt, and to create a light at the end of the tunnel, because everyone’s story is important.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. We were new to South Carolina not knowing a soul. We had to establish roots for ourselves and for our children. We wanted to form a community with great relationships that would embrace our vision to sell world-class Amish Furniture. We had to learn how to navigate entrepreneurship, as well as, learn the Lowcountry market.
We’ve been impressed with Charleston Amish Furniture, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ohio is a well-known Amish community where simple values like loyalty, responsibility, integrity, and faith are a way of life. The area is also known for its superior, old-fashioned craftsmanship.
Matt, learned the value and traditions of the Amish furniture industry while working with his father at Troyer’s Furniture Store. This knowledge, combined with his faith in the virtues of a superior line of furniture, inspired Matt to open Foothill’s Amish Furniture in Landrum, SC, and Charleston Amish Furniture in Charleston, SC.
Matt’s strong ties with select Amish craftsmen in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana has brought a new choice for beautiful solid wood furniture to the Low Country of South Carolina.
The quality of our Amish furniture is matched by our commitment to our customers. We want your business, and we’re willing to go the extra mile to earn it.
We believe the quality of our product is only matched by the quality of our service. Throughout our organization, we are dedicated to providing our customers with outstanding service – before, during, and after the sale.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Each new day is a gift from God. I try to live life to the fullest. I believe strongly in good health and hard work. I enjoy family time and gatherings with friends.
