Exploring Life & Business with Kanesha Mitchell of Très Chic Home Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kanesha Mitchell.

Hi Kanesha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was a wedding planner and decorator for 8 years before starting Très Chic Home Interiors. I ended that venture and decided to turn my focus to priorities that were higher on the totem pole, my son. It was only supposed to be for a year but my desire for planning weddings started to fade. However, my love and passion for decorating never left me.

I have always had a love for fashion, colors, shapes, and patterns. So, I decided I was going to take my skills from weddings to homes. That’s when Très Chic Home Interiors was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting my business, I definitely made some mistakes. Some big and some small. Some had me in tears because I am so passionate about my work and craft. I didn’t want anyone to think I wasn’t giving them my best.

I took those mistakes and turned them into lessons. I decided that I wasn’t going to allow any obstacle to stop me from doing what I am destined to do and be. I study my craft continuously and always look for ways to improve my brand. I want people to say when they hear my name or my brand, “Oh! She’s the one for the job!”

As you know, we’re big fans of Très Chic Home Interiors. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Très Chic Home Interiors is a full-service interior decorating studio based in Greenville, South Carolina. We focus on implementing visually appealing and stylish spaces that reflect each client’s design preference. My motto for the business is “Finding You in Every Detail”. Many designers, like myself, have a certain look or niche that they specialize in. I wanted my business model to reflect that I can do more than one style. When I complete a project, I want the design to show the true personality and character of my client.

I am extremely proud of my brand for being recognized by national retailers such as Article, Etsy, and Overstock. All three companies reached out to me and asked me to repost my designs on their social media feeds and website. That honestly was a wow moment and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I have had the opportunity to travel to several locations in South Carolina and even Alabama for a project. We can provide services to anyone in the US with our e-design services and can’t wait to add more locations to our roster!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I would say the most surprising thing about me maybe is that I actually love being alone. I’m a very social and talkative person but I absolutely love being alone. I truly enjoy being by myself and learning new things about myself. Another fun fact about me is that I’m a huge Marvel fan! X-Men are my favorite!
