Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Underwood.
Hi Heather, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I had always had a passion for skincare and makeup. I had acne issues during high school and always looked to improve my skin. I would buy everything and sign up for anything I thought would work. I first went to college to be a Cosmetologist and later discovered that wasn’t for me, so I started selling Mary Kay aside from my full-time job. I did awesome, so I quit my job and went full-time to Kenneth Shular School of Cosmetology for Esthetics in Spartanburg, SC. I graduated in October 2015 and started working at a nearby hair salon. For about 5 years, I worked at different hair salons in the Spartanburg area until COVID-19 hit and I then decided to get out of the field during that time. In 2021, I quit my administrative job and returned to my passion for Esthetics. I worked at a nearby beauty bar for a few months until I got my dream job at a local spa. I went from 10 committed clients to over 100 clients in 6 months. I have followed, watched, learned and listened to many ladies on how to build your business or market yourself. In September 2022, I launched my own Organic Skincare line with 25 products for acne, aging, sensitive or normal skin called Tranquility Skin. Since then, in the Summer of 2023, Tranquility Spa House LLC started. I have since started my own business inside of Revive Bodyworks in Downtown Spartanburg. Once, I was a young lady selling Mary Kay, then to just 10 clients, and now, 8 years later, I have over 200 clients and my own skincare line. I am passionate about helping anyone improve their skin and being knowledgeable about skincare. I offer various services, from facials, brows, lashes, body waxing, spray tans and makeup. I love discussing anything with Esthetics and would love to speak with you about improving your skincare needs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
You are correct, it definitely has not been obstacle free. I have had several obstacles in 8 years, but I have learned a lot from them and been able to fix or avoid them now. Covid was a huge hit to the industry, but we all had to go through it and now this industry is booming.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Esthetician of 8 years. I do various services, from makeup, spray tans, brows, lashes, body waxing, and facials. I specialize in treatment facials, brows, and lash lifts. What sets me apart from other aestheticians is I have my own skincare line, and I strive every day to learn new techniques and how to help my clients’ needs better and wants. I am most proud of created 25 different skincare products. My skincare brand is all organic products. I used essential oils, aloe, camomile, and extracts.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is often defined as the ability to reach your goals in life, whatever those goals may be. It is not necessarily a destination but a journey that helps develop the skills and resources you need to thrive.
