My journey into the marketing world began back in 2021 when I landed a role at a marketing firm based in sunny Florida. My responsibilities mainly revolved around managing accounts for a nationally recognized restaurant brand. Juggling over 200 accounts taught me the ropes of the industry, but as time went on, I found myself yearning for new challenges and growth opportunities.
That’s when I made the leap to join Victor’s Lab Food Truck, a venture owned by the dynamic duo, Ashley and Victor. They also happen to be the brains behind the thriving Smashleys Burger Bar in North Charleston. It was an exhilarating shift for me, diving headfirst into the bustling world of food trucks and local cuisine. Under Ashley’s mentorship, I thrived in my role, bringing fresh ideas to the table and making meaningful contributions to their marketing efforts.
As time went on, however, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I was capable of even more. In the summer of 2023, fate intervened when I reconnected with Sarah Irvin, known as @thepowerhousecoach on Instagram. Sarah and I had crossed paths before during modeling gigs, but this time, our conversation took a different turn. Over lunch, she posed a question that resonated deeply with me: why hadn’t I taken the leap into entrepreneurship yet?
Sarah’s words struck a chord, igniting a fire within me to explore new horizons. With her encouragement and the unwavering support of Ashley and Victor, I decided to embark on a new adventure and launch my own venture – HB Digital Marketing. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it felt like the natural next step in my journey.
The journey of building HB Digital Marketing from the ground up has been nothing short of exhilarating. Armed with my passion for marketing and a drive to make a difference, I poured my heart and soul into every aspect of the business. From networking events to crafting compelling content, I embraced every opportunity to connect with clients and showcase our capabilities.
Today, I’m incredibly proud to say that HB Digital Marketing has surpassed all expectations. In less than a year, we’ve climbed the ranks to become one of the top 5 marketing and PR firms in Charleston. With a portfolio boasting 12 clients and counting, it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.
Looking back on my journey, I’m grateful for every twist and turn that has led me to where I am today. Each experience – from managing accounts for a national brand to taking the leap into entrepreneurship – has shaped me into the professional I am today. As I look towards the future, I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for HB Digital Marketing and the opportunity to continue making a meaningful impact in the world of marketing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While my journey in marketing has been rewarding, it hasn’t been without its challenges. When I decided to work for myself, I faced a significant learning curve in managing my time effectively and navigating the responsibilities that come with entrepreneurship. Feeling stagnant in my career also pushed me to seek new opportunities.
Launching HB Digital Marketing was daunting, but overcoming obstacles like securing clients and adapting to industry changes has been rewarding. My biggest testament is to make small businesses grow and uplift women in business. Each challenge has been a chance to grow and learn, fueling my passion for making a difference in the marketing world.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
In the face of challenges and setbacks, it’s easy to feel discouraged or overwhelmed. However, I’ve come to realize that every obstacle presents an opportunity for growth and learning. By embracing resilience, I’ve been able to overcome adversity, adapt to change, and emerge stronger and more determined than ever before.
Additionally, my experience working in the food and beverage industry since the age of 15 has been invaluable. It has taught me to navigate different personalities and situations with grace and flexibility.
Understanding the nuances of customer service and interpersonal dynamics has not only shaped my approach to business but has also helped me build meaningful connections with clients and colleagues alike. It’s a lesson in empathy and understanding that I carry with me every day, and it has undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping my journey and success in the marketing world.
