Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal CrewsRoss.
Hi Crystal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Crystal CrewsRoss, I am the owner of Plush Makeup & Beauty Lounge. Some of my earliest memories are of my grandmother’s beauty salon in Florence, SC and her dedication to it. When I was old enough they recruited me to answer phones and servicing clients. I come from a long line of entrepreneurship from my grandparents and mom owning their own salons and storefront, which I knew one day, that would be me. As time moved on I went to school for Business Administration not really knowing what I wanted to do. I later would be asked if I had to wake up at 3:00 am and work what would I be willing to do. I did not hesitate I simply said makeup. So 2013 I became dedicated to becoming a makeup artist. Which took off and became the highlight of my career. I would later attend esthetician school in Columbia, SC where I fell in love with lash extensions. I began on a new journey and was certified as a mega lash technician from LA Lash Box. In 2019 my family and I moved to Greenville, SC where I put the beauty world on hold and Covid hit. I scaled back and would only service weddings. In 2021 we decided to make Anderson, SC our permanent home which was when I decided it was time to get back into the beauty industry. I decided I would attend Institute Beauty Artistry which certified me in the nail artistry. I’ve always had a passion for beauty and art so it was only fit to achieve my goals by opening PlushMBL.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! The journey has not been easy, but I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. During the pandemic, I took a break from the beauty industry and went into the mortgage field. This was the time of reflection we just moved to Greenville, SC and I was not set on where I wanted to be, not sure if I would even go back to the beauty industry. I was truly struggling if I even had a passion for beauty anymore or servicing clients. I was in a new area and had to start all over and build clientele again. The best advice I received at that time was to create my own space and opportunities when I FELT the time was right. We eventually closed on our home in Anderson, SC and that was when I knew I could find a home for PlushMBL. Opening this space is very big for me and truly an opportunity to do things differently but I’m excited about the future of building a team and possibly expanding.
We’ve been impressed with Plush Makeup & Beauty Lounge, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Plush MBL is a multi-service business where my team and I are able to provide the services we all enjoy doing whether it is doing a client’s makeup for their big day or being able to create a great nail and pedicure experience! We specialize in making our customers happy and exceeding their expectations.
What will set us apart is we are providing an affordable yet luxurious experience in our community to cater to everyone that just wants to feel good.
Building a brand since 2013 and being able to now see what it will truly be makes me proud.

At this moment successfully opening the shop. A lot of time, money, and effort goes into opening up something you have dreamed of. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I love an experience so trying to create that into a new town and space is a challenge but one I will try to do my best at achieving!
