Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Walder.
Hi Chad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always enjoyed being on and around the water. I enjoyed boating, recreational diving, and fishing as my pastimes. I had also worked in construction from a young age. I enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and combined my passion for the sea with my profession. Always being near the Sea, in my off time I performed small underwater construction projects and marine maintenance. After being honorably discharged from United States Coast Guard, I started my current business. We construct and maintain all aspects of underwater mooring and anchoring systems for floating dock marinas and mooring fields. We specialize in low-impact, ecologically friendly systems to minimize damage to the seabed. I enjoy working with organizations involved in Coastal Cleanup work. Nothing is more satisfying than removing an eyesore of trash or derelict boat from the waterways or marshland.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been up and down. Transforming a part-time business into a full-time one was difficult. The workload was inconsistent at the beginning which made staffing difficult. Trying to find employees with this type of skill set is also difficult. We’re always battling the weather and trying to maintain a schedule.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an Underwater Construction company (Commercial Diving) that specializes in ecologically friendly solutions for constructing waterfront infrastructure with minimal ecological impact.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are generally hired by marine engineers that recognize us for the type of work that we do. Ecological groups, Marine Scientists and Waterfront Engineers can consult us on our capabilities. Having a passion for water, I will do everything I can to minimize ecological impact.
