Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Carmela Daniels.
Hi Dr. Daniels, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am Dr. Carmela Daniels, DSW, LISW-S, and I was born and raised here in Dayton, OH where I have lived most of my life. I am the proud mother of two children, Mekhi and Morgan and I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and loved ones. As far back as I could remember I have always wanted to be a social worker. I had mentors that worked in the field of social work and mental health who I was inspired to be like. My story is that I have worked hard to serve my community and those who are in need. I have a love for the profession of social worker, mentoring, and consulting. I built my business during the COVID-19 pandemic to help those around me who need help in mental wellness, business consulting, and more.
What I have learned is that there are many people who need help and I am invested in ensuring that they get the help that they need.
I see my business and career continuing to inspire those who are in need, to continue to impact communities, and to invest in the field of educating social workers and many others.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road, growing up in a home where there were issues of mental illness and substance abuse made my childhood very difficult. My mother was a single mother who did the best that she could to raise my sister and me but we did not have a lot coming up and the times were hard.
While in school I would get into trouble and did not make good grades, I was constantly in trouble and was not making the right decisions. Later in life, I became homeless and worked hard to get back on my feet. I look back on these times and yes, they were hard but I was able to overcome and have worked hard to overcome those difficult times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dr. Carmela Daniels, Mentoring & Consulting, LLC?
I am a clinical social worker who works with the community and helps serve populations in need. My business specializes in mentoring and providing consultation to social workers, women in business, and more. My business collaborates with other organizations to bring educational platforms to the community on topics such as suicide, mental wellness, and more. My business specialized in mentoring, where I mentor individuals from all walks of life helping them to reach both professional and personal goals.
I am most proud of working with others and helping them to reach their goals. It is a great honor to be able to see individuals go from goal to goal and be successful. It is a great feeling to be a support to those who need it and to inspire them to never give up.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My aunt has always told me to never let my blessings carry me where my character could not keep me. I find that being authentic and genuine is and will be the most important part of my success. There is nothing like how you make people feel, and there is no amount of success that can top that if you are not authentic and genuine.
