Today we’d like to introduce you to shmacks.
Hi shmacks; so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved music. I gravitated to it when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Traumatized from seeing someone get killed before me, it seemed like the only thing that would take my mind off the environment I was growing up in. I started recording music in my adult years, 25 and up. Before that, I was in the streets, in and out of group homes, trying to find myself. For some reason, I realized I couldn’t shake the feeling I got when I recorded music. It was like the only thing I was good at. Fast forward; now, I own my record and am the first artist on the label. I have a clothing line that I launched under my label as well.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It could have been smoother though I wish it were. Lol, There was alot of potholes I hit, roadblocks, & detours I came across. I struggled with staying consistent and needing more money to start my business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an entrepreneur. I specialize in writing music. I make all kinds of music. People back at home refer to me as the female who dresses nicely with tattoos. Fashion comes naturally to me. Then it’s music, and everything thing else follows. I’m most proud of myself for how far I’ve come and the mindset that I have now. Me being a sponge, soaking everything up, being teachable, and always being willing to learn me apart from others.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
Never give up. No matter how hard things get. Never give up! Don’t let others project their fears onto you. Believe in yourself.
