Today we’d like to introduce you to Semone Seavers.
Hi Semone, We are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I moved to Charleston in 2017. We have been here for 7 years! It’s flown by. We were missionaries for almost 2 years in Haiti and felt led through prayer and another family to move to Charleston. We met at Christian University in Virginia and were married in 2012. My husband is from Pennsylvania. I am from Virginia. Most of our family (parents, siblings. extended family is in Virginia and northern states.) We have 4 daughters. We adopted 3 girls and gave birth to our youngest from 2017-2022. My husband has worked for a tech company and built his own business, which started with web design. He moved to marketing, and now he has also grown a YouTube channel. He has also written 2 books. On Amazon ( a children’s book and time management book). Self-published. I have written a book that helps people overcome challenges and reach their goals and God-given purpose (available on Amazon). I also did life coaching before we had kids, started a skincare business (very short-lived), and moved to being a homemaker once we had kids. We have purchased rental properties and live on land where we are growing a homestead with gardens and animals. We are both creative entrepreneurs. I am focused on homemaking, homeschooling, and homesteading with our kids. I am also growing online as a content creator, sharing life as a mother, homesteading, family, beauty, health, and wellness content while partnering with brands to promote products that help my audience. My husband and I are Christian, kingdom-minded people, and the themes of our marriage have been radical faith, obedience, creativity, entrepreneurship, service to our family and others, and love for multiculturalism and the global community.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road! There have been different seasons for different things. I don’t know anyone who has had a smooth road in life. The challenges we experience develop our strength, endurance, and character. One struggle we experienced was the time it took to grow our family. We were married for 5 years before having our children. We were open to adoption but also had challenges getting pregnant. Our first daughter was an infant adopted from SC foster care. It was miraculous, and we are so thankful for her. She was very healthy and was born in 2017, and we got to be in the hospital with her 1 day after her birth. She is a healthy and happy 6-year-old. In 2020, we were open to adoption again, so we did foster to adopt a sibling set of sisters from SC foster care from the upstate. They came into our care in March 2020, right before covid. We finalized their adoption in the Spring of 2021. My husband and I have an understanding of trauma, attachment, etc. However, the girls had a lot of things that were unreported from their previous foster home. We have done many therapies, different types of schooling, and more. My husband works from home, and I am a homemaker, so we’ve been able to be home and present with the children. We have a very therapeutic and nurturing home environment and have a loving but firm parenting style. They were 4 and 7 when they came into our care.
Over time, it became apparent that our children’s mental health and traumas caused them to lash out in our home and be stuck in what happened to them and unable to process it safely. We have had to find out-of-home care for our safety and our younger children. Our oldest child (now 11) is in a special therapeutic school that helps children with healing, attachment, education, and therapy. We also have a homeschool tutor that helps with our 8 yo (and 6 yo). She understands behavioral health. It is not what we originally envisioned or thought would be necessary, but it’s been an enormous learning curve filled with many pivots to get each of our children what they need. It’s also a very delicate situation as many people don’t understand all involved with foster care, adoption, RAD, ODD children’s mental health, illness, etc. Many people falsely believe that love is all you need” with children or “more discipline,” “more therapy,” or “more time.” Adoptive parents can be made to feel that they must do more or they are at fault. Still, it is a sad and flawed reality that some children need care outside of the home for their healing and that they have a journey for healing that cannot always be provided for by an adoptive family. Many have not lived with children in this state and the importance of love, wisdom, safety, and care for all. We love all our girls and have had to make some tough decisions for our family. We also are people of strong faith, so loving our girls and church family, praying, and seeking wise counsel and wisdom have also been a massive part of our parenting.
We got pregnant with our youngest daughter in 2021 and gave birth to her in 2022. She is also happy and healthy. She will be 2 in April. We went from 0 to 4 children in 4 years and are thankful for each one and continue to grow and learn in raising them. We are grateful for the lessons we have learned and continue to learn as parents.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a homemaker and very blessed to be a wife and mother. I am thankful to have been married to my husband for 11 years. I homeschool our kids, and we are building our homestead. My creative work is centered around my home and family. I create content online that encourages, inspires, and uplifts women and mothers. My mission has been to help women and mothers to be healthy, live purposeful lives, and have healthy relationships with themselves and others. My book is Radiant Purpose: Overcome Your Past, Know Your True Identity, and Open the Door to Your Future. My content creation is on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. I am focused on entertaining and providing inspiring solutions and products for my audience, including health, beauty, wellness, motherhood, homesteading, travel, and more. I do affiliate marketing with products I love and with other brands. I am known for being creative, having multiple interests, and sharing great products and ideas. I also feel like I can share deep topics like miscarriage, traumas, motherhood journey, and light uplifting topics like health, wellness, vitamins, skincare, and beauty. I love different cultures and people and have a friendly and optimistic nature. I am most proud of my marriage and family and of building a legacy with my husband. What sets me apart is that I am a creative ambivert who loves my family and friends, decorating, socializing, hosting, and traveling. Still, I enjoy solitude, cooking, baking, gardening, reading books, and recharging with hot tea, a good book, or in nature solo.
What changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
So, content creation, tech, mompreneurs, dadpreneurs, and business leaders will continue to grow with AI. I am not the most tech-savvy, even though I am a millennial. I love in-person connections. However, a global shift in tech and social media is just increasing. It is wise for people to be open to learning how to use tech because even future jobs will most likely require it. The future includes people having to figure out how to create business or opportunities from home. AI will not replace everyone and all jobs. But to grow, people must learn to use AI to communicate, network, buy, sell, and create online. Global business will become the norm. People and businesses who embrace it will be rewarded and succeed, while holding on too tight to old systems will not be good.
