Today we’d like to introduce you to Selene Coccato.
Hi Selene, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I opened my blog @ViaggiandoMangiando. It was a hobby but little it grows up and now it is just a job for me.
I love ethnic food and traveling around the world, so I decided to open it as a journey diary with all the recipes I’ve tried during my trips, and I hope also in the future will be like now, with a lot of trips and a lot of food!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I started my blog @ViaggiandoMangiando. About 4 years ago, more as a hobby than anything else, my goal was to tell a wider audience about my friends, my travels, places, people, and food local.
Therefore, I subsequently thought of also writing the recipes of what I tasted during my travels, with the mission of making Italians understand that there is good cuisine even outside of Italy, but the difficulty that emerged was that of a total closure mindset towards ethnic food.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have loved writing since I was a child, I wrote my first novel at 17 and published it a few years later, three more novels and several collections of poetry followed. Then in 2008, I entered the famous CSC Cinema school in Milan and after two years, I graduated in screenwriting and television fiction production, so my way of writing, already rather “cinematographic” at the beginning, took on a more professional connotation.
Unfortunately in Italy, the space given to young screenwriters is very small, especially if you don’t live in Rome, so I dedicated myself to opening a literary café where I managed cultural events and treated them by writing the texts, finally, I landed on the blog, as an evolution of writing.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
No one taught me how to write.
My passion was born through reading and cinematography, then the technique has been refined over the years thanks above all to the screenwriting course once I opened the blog I followed some support groups and webinars dedicated to the new genre of writing, but every day I learn something new…
