Daily Inspiration: Meet Samuel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel.

Hi Samuel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Samuel and I’m a artist, producer and engineer. I got started on my journey as an artist in 4th grade. The first artist to inspire me was 50 Cent with his “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” album. The grittiness, the authenticity, and the stories in his music drew me in. At that moment I knew I wanted to be involved in the music industry.

I wrote my first verse in my computer class. After a while, I started constructing my own path as an artist after being inspired by Eminem, Outkast, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Jay Z, Lupe Fiasco, Anthony Hamilton, and other artists and groups.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was definitely a struggle. When I was 17 I dropped my most notable mixtape “Shameful Thoughts 2” which led to me getting my first independent record deal. Though the deal didn’t work out I still kept it pushing and strived toward my dreams.

I’ve worked with JaVonte (affiliate of Top Dawg Entertainment) and Nitty Scott. After moving to Atlanta, I started engineering for many different artists such as Stalley (former artist of Maybach Music Group), Pastor Troy, Princess from Crime Mob, etc. and even interned for another indie label that’s connected to Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.

Throughout that time I struggled with my living situation but was able to make a breakthrough. From the year 2016 to 2020 I didn’t release a project and mainly focused on engineering, which helped me get my foot further in the door in the music industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist, producer, and audio engineer. I’m most known for being an artist and engineer. As for producing, I only do it when I’m working on an album or if someone asks me to make a beat. I’m most proud of all my downfalls because without failing I wouldn’t be the successor I am today.

Humble beginnings will forever keep you humbled. I feel what sets me apart from others is my artistry and by that I mean I’m not afraid to try new things with music. Different genres, events, effects, and even different variations of sounds helped me create my sound.

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing people genuinely happy and making a breakthrough. A lot of people struggle with the idea of love and once they find love within themselves they are able to spread it amongst others. Genuine love and compassion make the world go round.
