Today we’d like to introduce you to Rakeem Massingill.
Hi Rakeem, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before becoming the outstanding actor that I am today, I was once a basketball player. I thought I’d go to college one day on a scholarship but god had other options. He sent me into the military where I was faced with an honorable discharge and came back to SC. That’s when I got the idea to go to school at USC Upstate when I found the passion for acting. My major is business administration but I had a theater class as an elective. I fell in love with it and decided to push forward.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
So far, it’s been an amazing journey. I’m further in acting that I’ve ever been in basketball. I feel like it god showed me this was my destiny in very little time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Honestly, I see myself as a young African American activist. I love taking on other people’s problems and making something out of nothing. That’s exactly what I specialize in. I’m proud of me not stopping when one door closes. Another one opened and I took it! I’m known for all the amazing things I’ve been doing for my community. I love my hometown and I know it’s vice versa. What sets me apart from others is my ambition. All these late nights and early mornings will soon pay off.

It’s very easy to collab with me, especially if I notice you’re genuine. That’s all I look for in people I work with. I go off vibes! If the vibes isn’t there then neither am I.
