Today we’d like to introduce you to Peyton and Bella Lowcountry Living.
Hi Peyton and Bella, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Right before the world turned upside down, Valentine’s Day 2020, my parents surprised me with a new puppy. I was so excited with the new family addition. Sweet Bella was just what I needed during the crazy year of the pandemic. I started Bella’s Instagram account just for fun with no intention that it would become the successful platform that it is today. The name Isabellasdoodlediaries comes from Bella, of course, Isabella is her full name and these are her diaries as a Mini Golden Doodle. In Summer of 2021, hearing the news that my family and I were going to be making the move to Charleston, SC I really wanted to start showing more of the dog mom behind the account while making sure to share pictures of Bella very frequently. I then came up with the idea to add the Lowcountry lifestyle but also sharing the best dog-friendly activities in Charleston as I know it’s a popular place where people come to explore and travel. After I created Bella’s Instagram, we also started seeing so many dogs that were dressed up and how much their owners took that seriously. So that inspired myself and my mom to start a small dog bandana business called Pineapple Paw Prints. I also manage all of the social media for the business. At times, working in tandem with Isabella’s account. These two accounts have given me two totally different perspectives of the social media world. I appreciate the experience that each account has given me.
Fast forward to today, we are constantly sharing about all the Lowcountry dog-friendly activities going on and the best spots to travel with your dog. With our southern roots and with my passion to work in marketing and digital photography it’s no surprise that it led me to sharing our Lowcountry life. Come follow our journey
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an influencer, I have accomplished so many milestones that I never thought I would achieve. With social media features changing frequently, it forces me to learn new things every day. I had to learn so many things I didn’t know about social media when I started Bella’s account. With the mentors that I knew and the classes I took, I became better and better over time. Today, I frequently get asked questions through dm and messages about social media and how people can grow their business. Something that I think is important to know is that you are valuable. Isabellasdoodlediaries is a place for kindness and we really try to spread joy with our content. We want to be a place that people can come to smile. A struggle with social media is that you will most likely encounter negativity. Unfortunately, it just comes with the territory. We’ve been through that but what you need to do and what we did is spread that kindness because that’s the most we can do. When I started Bella’s account with not that many followers, the small amount of people I met along the way are still some of my closest friends and I wouldn’t be where I am without those people. During covid it was such a hard time and not seeing the friends I had in my town the social media friends became the people I would talk to every day. Social media has literally changed my life. If you are thinking about being an influencer, take the step because it is worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
isabellasdoodlediaries is your go-to spot for dog-friendly Lowcountry Living. With Bella, my Mini Golden Doodle, always by my side we love to explore all the Lowcountry dog-friendly places for example, restaurants, activities, new stores, etc. Our motto is always “if it’s not dog-friendly we aren’t going” so I’m serious when I say if my dog isn’t allowed, I’m not going. Ever since my family added the cutest addition, we never leave her more than for 45 minutes alone in our house. I believe what sets Isabellasdoodlediaries from other creators is that I am a student in High School usually people wouldn’t think that a girl my age would have a successful social media account. Being a creator is my full-time job. People question me all the time, that if I have another job and no just take cute photos of my dog, post the photos, interact with my followers and work with brands. I can honestly say that I have the best job ever, no lie. Being a full-time creator and working on school from home, my schedule is pretty go at your own pace and I love that. Even if you are young doesn’t mean you can’t be a creator on social media. Our platform is growing every day and the fact that we have already been featured on the news and other things is mind-blowing.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice when it comes to finding a good mentor is to make relationships through social media. Interact with your followers, be friendly, connect and see what you have in common. By making those relationships you will always have people that will have your back. You can start by following someone and interact with their pages frequently, direct message them and see if they want to meet up if you live in the same place. What has worked well for me is meeting the person face-to-face and messaging them while supporting them in the same way. I made one of my first friends over at Instagram and we are still good friends to this date. We like to share about each other’s businesses and always interact with each other. My other good friend is a huge part of my experience growing my platform. In fact, she has told me the juice and all the basics of social media and digital photography. Having good friends is so important especially working in social media. How I started working with brands was reaching out directly to them and even signing up for influencer networks. Starting out with free product and then expanding to paid partnerships and creating a media kit. All of that hard in the beginning will eventually pay off because all that experience will have you working with bigger brands before you know it.
