Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Sade’ Wideman.
Hi Olivia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My true love for make-up started after I had my firstborn in 2018. After dealing with postpartum depression. Watching makeup videos on YouTube sparked my interest. Playing in makeup and creating beautiful looks is what brought me out of that dark place. Even before then as a young girl, I constantly got picked on for how I looked or how skinny I was. I always tried to fit in but never did. As I got older, I realized that God made me different for a reason.
Dealing with postpartum depression was probably the most difficult thing I have been through. With the grace of God and his guidance and makeup, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I tell everyone that comes in contact with my business that this is more than a brand to me it’s my lifestyle. This literally SAVED MY LIFE. It’s more than makeup to me. Knowing that I was fearless and overcame and still to this day overcoming obstacles that I face. Let me know I am fearless and God, I can overcome anything. Fearless Slay is my way of giving women a light at the end of the tunnel.
I want my products to not only cause them to feel beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. Fearless Slay was born in the year 2020 during the pandemic. What a great time to start a business right? Again I live out what the name of my business is, Fearless. I didn’t have time to be scared I had to be obedient to what God had given me. So here we are now!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? I would be lying if I said yes. I am a mother of two boys and a wife. I also work full time and also in ministry. The journey has not been easy. But with constant prayer and keeping my ear close to God. Allows me to stay focused and keep pushing. Yes, I do have bad days. I’ve learned this year to allow myself to feel my emotions instead of keeping them bottled up instead. I was bad at doing that which caused me to explode on those that I love.
Allowing myself to feel my emotions allows me to move on which is by praying and releasing them to God and allowing him to handle the rest. I could go on and on about that but that’s a whole different story. Finding balance has been my main struggle at times and it still is. Sometimes I may have to pull back and re-strategize and I’ve learned that it is okay.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Fearless Slay is a cosmetics brand that specializes in vegan products that are also clean products that aren’t harmful to your skin. I am most proud of encouraging women through my business which has helped birthed other ideas and businesses.
What sets me apart from different businesses that are in my industry is again this is more than just a brand not only do my customers/supporters get quality products but also encouragement along the way. It’s my being authentic that sets me apart.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along this journey is, don’t give up! If I make sales one week and the next week I don’t. Don’t give up continue to push. Go back to the drawing board and find a new strategy.
