Today we’d like to introduce you to Melvina Spain Doiley.
Hi Melvina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2015, I launched Heeled by MelRose, an online fashion boutique created to merge my love of high heel shoes and my belief that EVERY WOMAN, regardless of their income status, should be able to own and wear a pair of fierce high heels. My motto is “when you look good, you feel good, and you perform better!!!”
In 2021 I relaunched Heeled by MelRose, LLC to expand my brand to a full fashion boutique designed to style women from the soles of their feet to the clothes on their backs. October 2021 I launched my first self designed heel of the MelRose collection! The road hasn’t been easy and my goal to inspire all women to chase their dreams and pursue their passion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While some may make it look easy and glamorous to conquer the fashion world successfully, owning a fashion line requires WORK!!! One of the biggest challenges I faced when opening my boutique, were startup costs. Resources were limited and making those initial connections was a challenge. With no guidance from a mentor, A lot of my decisions were trial and error but with faith and determination, I’m here.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in the division of Finance and Accounting for a major health care corporation. I am proud that I am able to be a full time entrepreneur, a full time wife, a full time mom, and maintain a full time job.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Starting off one of my family members helped me with a lot of research, writing contracts and emails, and she made sure that a lot of the events that was planned ran smoothly. I also have my parents, brothers, husband, and an extended support system. Through social media, I was able to connect and network with some amazing women who became apart of a my accountability circle. Those connecting allowed me the opportunity to gain information and knowledge that become vital to the launching of my own shoe line.
