Today we’d like to introduce you to Khori Mitchell.
Hi Khori, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
DesignZ by KDG was started in 2019 but was legally established in May 2020. I’ve always been the person to plan and organize events, whether they were for family or friends. I took my creative abilities to the next level when I started my small business. Initially, it was just for fun, and it still is. But now, I’ve turned my passion into a second career. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without God first and foremost and the love and support from my dad, Corey, my grandmother, Diane, my life partner Kendall and a few other family members and close friends.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely Not! I’m now a mom of two. My daughters Khyndal, who is 5, and Khelani, who is 7 months, play a major role in my success. I sometimes have “mommy guilt” when planning or decorating events. I feel as if I’m missing out on time with them. I also remind myself that everything I’m doing is for my girls and I’m grateful to be in a position where I can provide for them. Event planning is my second career. I’m a Lead Parent Educator during the week and an event planner on the weekends. I want to encourage all upcoming entrepreneurs to never give up, never stop dreaming, and always put their best foot forward because you never know who’s watching.

Everyone knows everyone. Santee is small but also big in the capacity of the amount of traffic that we frequently have. Santee doesn’t have a lot of event halls or party supply stores.
