Daily Inspiration: Meet James Goldsmith

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Goldsmith.

Hi James, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is James Goldsmith and I am an entrepreneur. I was born in Washington DC but grew up in Laurens County. I have my own graphic design/website design agency and magazine company.

My graphic/website design company name is “Goldsmith Graphics Agency” and we have been in business officially since 2018. I love to create graphics from cartoons to websites, flyers, logos, etc.

When you look around yourself you always see graphics. You can be driving on the highway you will see graphics. Graphic Design has saved my life financially wise. In 2019, I lost my regular job and I was hurt by losing that job because bills never stop but that motivated me more to take a chance on my business full time. I have created over 200 websites and my company is managing 50-plus websites.

I personally have created thousands of graphics and I fell in LOVE to create graphics. In 2020, I officially started teaching graphic design to other people and as of now, I have taught over 100 people now. I offer group and individual classes. This is my passion and I will continue to create graphics. I am currently developing a video game that hopefully, I will have out by either July or August of 2023.

My other business is called “S.I.E Magazine” which stands for “Success Isn’t Easy.” That company was created in July 2016, that is dedicated to my late little brother “Micah Goldsmith.” The message that we want to show people is that you can be successful no matter what you have been through, how you were raised, etc.

Now don’t get me wrong you will have obstacles but you can still be successful. Our quote is “If success was easy then everybody would be doing it.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road at the beginning.

Earning clients at the beginning of your career was difficult because a lot of people had their own personal graphic designers so I would come up with different marketing plans to earn clients.

In the first year, I barely had any clients like that but in the second year, clients were coming in from left to right. I have reached the point I had to hire people for my agency so I can spread out certain graphic design jobs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In graphic design, I can basically do anything honestly but one of my favorite specials is creating cartoons or websites.

I love to play video games and watch anime especially “DragonBall Z.” So if I am by myself I would work on my pictures into cartoons or my clients into cartoons.

When I create websites I love to try new things because I treat every client brand like it is my own. You might see motion graphics on one website or see flickering colors on another website.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The number 1 lesson that I learned is that you will not become successful overnight. It will take time, dedication, and sacrifice. Still to this day I sacrifice sleep because I will NEVER EVER LET SOMEONE TAKE MY PLACE.

There are thousands of talented graphic designers out in the world but I am determined to be one of the best.
