Daily Inspiration: Meet Jake White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake White.

Jake White

Hi Jake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a big Italian family where cooking was a love language. After college, I needed a job to pay my bills. That’s when I officially started working in kitchens (around 2016).

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not! There have been many struggles along the way, but the more obstacles you face, the more you realize those are the hurdles you need to jump to get to the place you’re trying to go. I deal with imposter syndrome a lot, which can often hold me back.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
First and foremost, I build relationships with clients and local farmers and artisans in Charleston. Those are the folks who help me shine in the kitchen because they allow me to utilize ingredients that can only be found here in the low country.

What makes you happy?
Being with friends & family makes me happy. Community is the essence of existence.
