Today we’d like to introduce you to India Samuel.
Hi India, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I can recall having a conversation with my sister informing her of my desire to become a photographer. We would discuss our goals and aspirations constantly. I wanted to be intentional and obtain an accountability partner to ensure I followed through with my dream of being a professional photographer. So, without hesitation, we set a date to purchase a camera and begin the journey. I remember like it was yesterday. When the date arrived, I made the leap of faith and purchased my very own camera. I then enrolled in a photography course at a local community college to advance the knowledge and skills needed to excel in this industry. My pursuit to professional photography was so intense, I sought a mentor. I was so overwhelmed with her kindness and desire to take me under her wings. I was able to shadow and assist her for various shootings throughout the southeastern region of the U.S. I was also afforded the opportunity to attend multiple conferences from New Orleans, Nashville, and Las Vegas to gain extensive knowledge on photography. I can truly say because of my faith, positive outlook on life, divine connections, and support from wonderful family and friends, it turned my dream into reality.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like anything in life, challenges may arise, and moments are not always smooth sailing. However, obstacles were overpowered by my faith, perseverance, and consistency. There were struggles of finding the right photography genre, lighting, and understanding the business component of photography. However, my mentors, work experience, training, and educational courses have girded my efforts and pursuit to excel in this industry.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
INS Photography specializes in event and portrait photography, offering sessions for birthday events, family, senior portraits, special events, and intimate weddings. Our absolute signature genre and one we are proud of is event photography with an emphasis on onsite printing and additional photo size offerings at the event. So, what sets us apart from others? The experience. Our signature styles in capturing events, our persistence in exploring and obtaining education for our genre of photography, our choice of color and lighting to compose the desired image, and our desire to be a specialist in the field sets us apart. Even while juggling a full-time role as an Operations Manager in the Upstate of South Carolina, being an inspirational vocalist, and embracing the demand of photography and entrepreneurship, the pursuit of continuous improvement is key in setting us apart.
Any big plans?
The future is bright and big changes are near! INS Photography expects to expand the offerings of exceptional event and portrait photography throughout the U.S and abroad. I am also excited about the future in owning a photography studio in the Upstate of South Carolina within two years to aid in mentoring youth and expanding the team.
