Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Dorr.
Hi Gracie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been creative more than a logical person, so it was no surprise when I ended up filming high school vacations with my friends and editing all night to make stupid, fun little videos. It wasn’t until halfway through college that I realized these moments were fleeting (and fast)! I wanted to film as much as possible, but my life was boring. I’ve always been sentimental, so when I filmed my first wedding for a family friend (and killed it, might I add), I knew this was what I wanted to do. Capturing all those precious, fleeting moments when your family is together is probably once in a lifetime, and I loved every minute. I only did a few before 2020, but that was when I decided to quit my receptionist job and start filming full-time! What a great time to start, am I right? 2020 was fun at first, but I soon started to panic, realizing that all the weddings I had booked were gone. By July, I was curious if this dream would become reality. Here we are, 3 short (yet very long) years later, and I wouldn’t trade this job for the world!
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! No road is ever completely smooth, though. We all have rough patches. Times we want to give up. The feeling of needing to be better. Imposter syndrome. The beginning of this career was rough in 2020, but the work overload was almost as bad! By no means am I complaining about working, but at some point, being new to this world, I had way overbooked myself and was running on fumes and caffeine by winter. Thankfully, I have learned better, and it’s been much smoother sailing the past year!
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
To keep it simple, I’m a traveling wedding videographer known for fun, sweet, and simple wedding films that are warm and nostalgic. I am passionate about telling couple’s stories and shining a light on their relationship’s best qualities!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Oh, everyone in my family deserves credit! They all believed in me, spotted me in tough times, and made sure I knew I was doing great! My friends are also supportive and always help with shoots when I ask! lol
