Today we’d like to introduce you to Franko Covington.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
If you wanna know how I started take you back to way it started at. Back home Columbia SC I always love and enjoy making people laugh of course if you’re thinking yes, I was a class clown and people always told me that I should be a comedian I never really thought about, to be honest. Once I moved to Charleston and realized I wanna do something that I enjoyed and love to do March 6 2018 my first time performing on stage in midtown Atlanta at the laughing skull lounge I didn’t have any material or nothing did I bomb I really don’t know cause the positive feedback I received from the audience was good. And I still have that video till today every time I have a show I always record myself just so I can see what I could’ve done better from the way I’m moving on stage my Face expressions and if I could’ve word my material different cause sometimes when I’m on stage I freestyle and from doing all that I was vote best comedian two times best host and was nominated for comedian of the year and let not forget I got over 8videos that has gone viral with over 2.5million view and today I’m still going hard with no intention of stopping
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not smooth it has been a bumpy road sometimes I wanted to stop cause I’m balancing a lot you know my relationship my family and working a regular 9-5 is a lot and then turn around to go on stage and make this crowd laugh that paid their money and most of the time came out to see you support you. So, I’m dealing with all that, and to balance it out I find time for myself and comedy even if it’s only 5mins I still haven’t managed to keep it at balance but for the most part, everybody is ok for what I know lol
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work for Bennett warehouse for KION I’m a shipping and receiving supervisor by day and a standup comedian actor host dancer by night. My job is just basic paperwork after paperwork now What I’m known for is making people laugh that it’s what I love to do I mean I’m a good therapist unlicensed but after I’m gonna make you laugh, I’m just me. I think I’m most proud of the man that I’ve become looking back I’ve came always from being homeless to doing what I love to do. Here the thing that sets me apart from other? I’m me It doesn’t bother me if you don’t like if you don’t think I’m funny I’m me I challenge myself to achieve every goal that I set up I’m different
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’m always willing to network all day every day. I really don’t have a need of finding a mentor cause I have some positive people that have motivated me throughout this journey and they’re still here and I’m happy about that they give me their honest opinions on everything even and it’s been working well for me and I appreciate them for that
