Daily Inspiration: Meet Chris Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Wilson.

Hi Chris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
In 2014, I suffered multiple concussions during football that ended my athletic career and led to depression. Still having a passion for sports, I began using my mom’s camera to capture pictures from the sidelines at games. What started as a hobby turned into a paid gig by the school for the next 4 years in videography.

During this time, my passion for videography began to grow and I started a YouTube channel with over 100 videos on personal growth. Once I got to college, I began Film & TV classes and got hired by Southern Connecticut State University to work in their video marketing department. This is where my videography skills improved remarkably.

I naturally started getting asked about freelance opportunities and it was then that I realized how successful I could be. Shortly after, I started a production company called CW Productions LLC. The company launched and took off, leading me to quit my job, and my internship, drop out of school and relocate to Charleston, SC.

I am now directing music videos and other productions in places like New York City, working alongside Waka Flaka Flame, DJ Pauly D, Denise Richards, Jacques Pepin, and other notable figures.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing about this entrepreneurship journey has been smooth.

I was 21 and didn’t have any money. Instead of buying school books, I used my school loan to buy my first camera. I was working 2 video jobs as a full-time student and freelancing on the weekend to support myself and invest in my equipment.

My school and family members heavily resisted my decision to drop out. Everybody’s influence made this path very difficult. Despite all the pushback, I followed my heart and left everything behind to pursue my dream.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in directing music videos and commercials.

I am known for my clean, no transition, old-school filmmaking techniques. My biggest accomplishment thus far is having over 50 clients in my first year of doing business.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to travel all over the world directing music videos and content for top brands as well as beginning a coaching program to help new creatives jumpstart their career in business.

I have always had a dream of being a motivational speaker that inspires millions to chase after their dreams and reach their fullest potential.

I am utilizing social media platforms such as; YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok to promote this content.
