Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Jensen. They and their team shared their story with us below:
In August 2021, Britney moved from Ephraim, Utah, to the small town of Greenwood, South Carolina. The one thing she missed the most about home was her hand-mixed flavorful soda. While living in Utah, she witnessed the explosion of soda shops in her area and became a frequent customer. While telling her friend, Nicole, how much she wished she could get a flavorful soda fix, the idea was born that they could be the ones to bring the soda craze to Greenwood. Two stay-at-home moms and best friends set to brainstorm their new venture, and Sunshine Soda was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since the concept is so new in the South, finding someone to lease a brick-and-mortar with a drive-thru from has proven difficult. In spite of that challenge, we decided to build a portable soda bar and set up at as many local vendor fairs and festivals as possible. We could introduce the concept to the community. The feedback we have received from the community so far is that they have loved our flavorful sodas and are excited for us to open a shop that they can visit every day. Once people have tasted a soda, they fall in love and return for more.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Both of us are stay-at-home moms. I (Britney Jensen) have four kids, including a set of twins. Nicole has three children that she homeschools. Both of our husbands work long hours. We also serve as mothers, wives, and homemakers in our church community. Nicole loves exploring many talents, such as cosmetology, building things through woodworking, and renovating bedrooms throughout her home. Britney enjoys being artistic through drawing and painting family portraits, using her Cricut to make vinyl for sweatshirts and t-shirts. She also loves creating content and graphics for Sunshine Soda’s Instagram and Facebook. In between it all, we are busy brainstorming ideas for growing and expanding our business. We have loved that our business has been an outlet for our creativity.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
We have been overwhelmed with the support of our church community, family, and friends. Our friends and family have traveled to other towns where we have set up to be able to support us and purchase Sunshine Soda’s drinks. Everyone we have met through past business ventures or career paths has taught us valuable information that we can now use. Every person that we have crossed paths with has not been by coincidence. We have been fortunate to be surrounded by many amazing influential people.
