Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Moffitt.
Hi Abby, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
“Once uponce a time” was how I started all my childhood stories. Years later, my entrepreneurial story would fittingly be built on classic fairy tale foundations:
- A strong opening: This (North) Carolina girl lived a charmed childhood as a born and bred Tar Heel. After stops in Chapel Hill, Atlanta, and Boston, I found myself in NYC, navigating the publishing powerhouse Condé Nast of Devil Wears Prada infamy. With this experience, I jumped headfirst into the world of start-ups, helping build ZinePak, The Superfan Company, and now Bright Ideas Only into multi-million dollar businesses.
- Interesting characters: Mostly good, some evil, but each with a lesson to teach. From rock stars (literally) to retailers, unwavering supporters to skeptics!
- Magic: We are powered by magic! And so grateful to feel it often in the connections we nurture, the ideas we pitch, and the fans we delight.
- Conflict: We see it, we feel it, we don’t like it. But we roll with the punches.
- A moral lesson: At Bright Ideas Only we’ve learned that kindness, hard work, handwritten notes, and “sunshine” can get you anywhere you want to go.
- A happily ever now: That looks like laughing with current client & comedian Matt Rife, singing along with partners like Hunter Hayes & John Mellencamp, igniting magic alongside Disney Junior, and living my best life in Charleston, SC.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road doesn’t make for a compelling fairy tale, at least that’s what I tell myself. From the drastic decrease in music sales beginning in 2018 to a global pandemic bringing all entertainment titans to a screeching halt in 2020, we’ve faced many challenges. While some were unexpected, many were part of the owning-your-own-business grind, like losing employees, pivoting during market changes, hearing “no” over and over again, and having to pick yourself/your company up after others let you down.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
After a decade of racing around the country, working with the biggest names, brands, and entertainers, we were forced to pause. With this time and space, we had an aha moment (which made sense since we had just finished working on Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour): “People don’t buy goods and services; they buy relationships, stories, and magic.” They fall in love with the bright idea. And we’re in the business of brilliant ideas.
