Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Heard.
Hi Nate, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started casually smoking cigars with friends. I enjoyed hanging with my friends and making new friends. I’m in law enforcement and getting close to retirement. I talked to my family first to see how they felt then bounced the idea off of friends. I reached out to people that owned similar businesses and those contacts became very good friends as well. This is a small nitch business so we all experience the same issues. After getting the go ahead and with the support of my family, The Continental Mobile Cigar Lounge was born. I custom built my trailer and traveled w my best friend, Brian, to pick it up. We built out the inside after doing all the legwork and creating social media posts. The calls started coming in and here we are.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been easy. One of the biggest challenges is that this mobile cigar lounge is a new concept so getting insurance, licenses and permits has been tough. My dealings with the Department of Revenue has been hard also for the same reason listed above. It was basically, figure it out. I have for the most part and again leaning on like business owners.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a full time Police Captain in the upstate. I’ve been a police officer for 28 years and love what I do. My law enforcement career started at Clemson University Police Department issuing parking tickets then I started on patrol in 1996. I left CUPD and started my career with the city of Clemson in 1996. I made Captain in 2020 aftee climbing thr ranks from regular patrol officer, Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant. The City of Clemson and the area is home for me.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
I travel to events of all sorts and I love meeting and working with new people. We have operated at wineries, breweries, restaurants, birthday parties, corporate events, golf tournaments, sporting watch parties, etc. I ask people to book an event and experience what the lounge offers. People can support me by telling other people their experience, sharing my post from Facebook and Instagram. We have a great time and I am big on treating my customers as friends and family.
