Conversations with Marie Rachelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Rachelle.

Hi Marie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as an entrepreneur began as a freelancer and I’ve been at it for nearly a decade. My background is in social media and writing, but now I spend most of my days building communities and resources for freelancers that I wish existed when I started out. I just opened a coworking space and that business came from years of finding my “people” and creating and events that brought those people together. It’s truly a dream to finally have a physical space that represents all the work I’ve done. But don’t worry, I’m not stopping there. With my background in writing, I am excited to announce my first book (aiming to release in late 2022) and my launch into the next steps in my journey as a freelance journalist. There is so much to be said about freelancing and coworking and I plan on saying it. Also, along the way, I’ve become somewhat of an advocate for freelancers around the globe and it’ll be nice to have more time to dive in.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s most definitely not been a smooth road and I don’t think there’s enough time in this interview to cover it all, but I’ll give you the short version. I’ve become a mother, experienced divorce, the death of a parent, lost friends, and like everyone else, suffered through a pandemic era. I know there have been other obstacles as well, but I can’t think of them because I try my best to keep them behind me. The best takeaway I can share with you is that I never stopped believing in myself and I finally realized that if I gave my best to myself, then I could give my best to others. I couldn’t have gotten where I am today without the best people in my corner and I make sure to thank them for that every chance I get.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Like I said, I really focus on the freelance and co-working industries. I just sort of fell into it, but looking back, everything I’ve learned and experienced has prepared me for the “now.” My coworking space was created for freelancers and remote workers to create a laid-back but productive space where they can get things done, yet connect and collaborate with others. I also host an annual week-long freelance conference where freelancers can learn and network with each other. I’ve been hosting this event for the past 4 years. Writing is my deepest passion and I’m excited to use my experience as a freelance writer for others to finally write my own book and launch my newfound career in journalism. I want to share the ins and outs of freelancing, and coworking, and help those who aren’t in either industry to understand how important and impactful they are to everyone else. As the world moves forward in the future of work and legislation, there will be a lot of noise. I hope to cut through that noise and make a true impact. To date, I think I’m most proud of being a working mom. With everything I do, people always ask, “how do you do it?” I try to answer but honestly, I have no idea – I just do. I have grown to know and love who I am, appreciate my life, and wouldn’t trade it for the world, so I just try to do my best each day. I’d like to think I’m not too different from others because I would love to see more people follow and fulfill their dreams, too.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I would love for everyone to connect with me! There’s always room for collaboration if it comes from the right place. If they can support me and my writing, that’s a plus, but honestly, I just love connecting with people and helping out. Find me on social or send me an email and say “hello!”
