Conversations with Jada Segaard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Segaard.

Hi Jada, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my first blog, The Classy Redhead, in 2015 right after I graduated high school. I had always had a passion for styling outfits and sharing where I shopped. I blogged for about 2 years while I was in college at Lander University getting my biology degree. After 2 years, I wasn’t able to keep up with my coursework and blogging, so I decided to stop. After I graduated from college in 2019, I didn’t have much of an idea of what I wanted to do. My original plan for a career was to go to graduate school for genetic counseling, but I wasn’t accepted into any programs. During this time, I knew that I loved content creation and sharing things on social media because I ran the social media for my sorority in college and I truly missed blogging. In 2019 I started as a health care aid for my cousin that is special needs while I looked for jobs and programs to apply to.

Fast forward to February of 2020 when I decided to launch my second blog, Just Gingerly. One month after starting my platform, the pandemic started. I was a full-time health care aid for my cousin and helped with a virtual school. Having life shut down during the pandemic is the biggest reason I was able to launch my blog. Online shopping became more popular and I began sharing my favorite online finds with my followers. My boyfriend, now husband, and I took mini road trips and took content pictures for my blog as a way to get out of the house and outside.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, I had the opportunity to work with so many local businesses as well as nationally known brands.

Now here I am in 2022, doing the same thing as a career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been an easy road to get to where I am now. When you first start out as a content creator/influencer, you have to build a following. Growing on social media is one of the hardest parts of the job. You have to be consistent in showing up every single day. It’s not solely about influencing consumers to buy products. You have to build trust with your followers and share more parts of your life with strangers on the internet. Not only are you working to find your target audience, but you are also trying to learn strategies for growth on different social media platforms. The content that I share on Instagram is different from the content on TikTok. Social media is constantly changing and so are the trends. Every day looks different from the last, and what worked yesterday might not work today or tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Just Gingery is a fashion and lifestyle blog for the everyday mid-20s girl. I share current fashion trends for girls/women that love classic southern style with a touch of today’s trends. I also share all of my favorite beauty finds. As a natural redhead with fair skin, it’s hard to find makeup products that compliment my features. So, I share my favorite products that work for me. I also share my everyday life! I am recently married as of October 2021, so I’ve been sharing life as a newlywed and the process of decorating our first home. On Instagram, you will see a glimpse into my everyday life. I share current sales, tutorials, and styled outfit inspiration. In 2022, one of my goals was to start utilizing TikTok, and just this week I hit 1 million videos on video for the first time. On TikTok, I share my daily outfit of the day, unboxing videos of packages, and a touch of humor. Being a small content creator, I have had the privilege of working with brands like Vera Bradley, Tarte Cosmetics, Panera, and more!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I was little, I absolutely loved playing with my American Girl dolls. I had so many clothes for them that I would have fashion shows with them and take photos of them like they were models. I have always loved dressing up and shopping for new outfits. Most weekends my mom and I would spend our Saturdays going to the mall or taking a trip to Target and Marshall’s to see what we could find.
