Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Romanosky. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Dana Romanosky and Leanna Noel started as sisters-in-law. They became co-founders of Evolve Modern Pilates when Dana’s passion and expertise in Pilates meshed with Leanna’s newfound exuberance for an evolved version. Dana Romanosky is a co-founder of Evolve Modern Pilates. She is a classical Pilates teacher on a mission to share the life-changing benefits of organizing your body, mind, and spirit for optimal health and happiness. Dana believes in the Pilates system of exercises and loves how the method strengthens, lengthens, and tones all major muscles at once. Dana found Pilates after ten years of chronic pain from a debilitating car accident. After trying everything else, Pilates healed her body and changed her life. She was so inspired that she changed careers to help others. Dana completed The Advanced Teacher Training Program in 2010 through The Pilates Center, Boulder, CO, and has been a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher with the National Pilates Certification Program since 2012. She has worked in Pilates and Pilates-based Physical Therapy studios in California North and South Carolina.
“I am committed to helping others achieve their fitness goals and am excited to build upon my experience and bring modern strength training techniques, new exercises, and a revolutionary Evolved Reformer to Mount Pleasant,” says Dana. “I hope to create a community that develops the same passion for health, healing, and happiness achieved through safe and effective functional movement that I have.”
When not in the studio, Dana cooks for her family and friends, plays tennis boats around Charleston, and hangs out on the beach with her husband and teen daughters in the summer or snow skis in the winter.
Can you tell us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth?
I watched my mother gracefully manage MS for the last 25 years. As I was ramping up to open the studio, her health took a steep decline the same week we planned to open. She passed within the first two weeks we opened our doors. To say that was a challenge is an understatement. I am still processing the love and support this community of teachers, early clients, and long-time clients showed me, my family, and each other during a challenging time. Charleston is magical.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a longtime Pilates teacher who is truly interested in your health and happiness. Leanna and I created Evolve Total Body, a 50-minute, high-intensity, low-impact, all-levels modern Pilates class, taught on the eFormer so more people can experience the benefits of Pilates in a fun group environment.
We also offer Evolve Body Smart, a 50-minute modern Pilates strength and recovery class that encompasses the essential moves of Total Body with a deeper focus on form and alignment, with slower transitions between exercises. You will leave either class feeling stronger, longer, and more energized!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I traveled around the world when I was 23 years old. Well, I got halfway around for half a year before the car accident mentioned above. That ended my adventure, but only after I spent months in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. If I could, I would tell anyone and everyone (if asked) to budget travel when young if they can. That topic dominated every job interview afterward and gave me amazing memories and friendships.
