Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Shuffler.
Bradley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up life wasn’t perfect for me. My biological mom and brother were highly addicted to drugs and alcohol. I have never drunk or done drugs in my life and instead, I turned my pain into passion. I had a lot go on I didn’t show anyone. I always had a feeling God created me to be much more, I just had to wait to figure it out. My dad, who has always been there when I needed him most, is a very successful radio show host on over 50 radio shows around the US, and my stepmom is a very successful teacher of coaches for the state’s school districts. At 8-11 years old, I became interested in film production, editing and, photography when I would create stop motion videos using Legos, shortly after, at age 14, I started creating skateboard videos for fun using my skateboard as a dolly for rolling shots. A little while after, at age 16, I began shooting film with my drones and editing videos on my phone, and taking pictures while outside during sunsets or walking around. I started by building my own drones with some friends and then, at age 17, I fell into the more cinematic versions of drones. I was creating Instagram videos for cinematics and photography. I eventually got into filming with cinema cameras, and I started creating videos from the ground and the sky while I used the top-of-the-line editor, Adobe which I learned to use in high school. I went to college here in Charleston, SC for film production. While I was there, I got to get my hands all over the top-of-the-line equipment. In the middle of my first year of college, I made it to a film set and I worked as a location’s assistant for Lifetime. After making a couple short films for class projects, interviews, and music videos for clients, my first year of college was completed. At age 19, I got an opportunity to have a film contract in Dallas, TX as a camera operator on a project out there. While I was out there, I created my LLC to BAShufflerProductions. When I returned home in 2019 after about 6 months going to and from, I kickstarted my business as a full-on passion at age 20. I have gone from my own home videos to music videos. Now 23, I do social media and commercial work for my clients while I am also writing a movie. Filming allows me to express my creativity and puts my ADHD to work. I am focused, inspired, and happiest when I am, directing, filming, editing, or taking pictures. The drive I have had to be a director, filmmaker, editor, and producer has been the key reason for my success.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge was honestly myself. It took me a long time to see that with all of the negative comments from people and the critics etc. Another big obstacle was overcoming the feeling of being stuck in one place. I had the nights of laying in my bed begging God for a way to make this work. The biggest thing I learned to overcome challenges by was the fact that God wouldn’t have given me this dream if it wasn’t for me, and not everyone is going to see it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Director, Filmmaker, Editor, Producer, Photographer, etc.
What sets me apart most is the fact that I can just hear a song or see a picture or look down a road and see a whole scene already created and mapped out. It’s something I can only explain by being a God-given talent.
I am most proud of not only my works but for not giving up, I know 8-year-old me is very proud.
Seeing the looks on clients’ faces after I turn their image into reality is what makes me know I’m in the right place!
Any big plans?
I plan to be a famous director, like I mentioned before I am currently working on a movie script and I have about 40-45 pages done so far.
Another goal is to get my business out there as a production company for clients and movies and Tv shows.
