Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Swanson.
Hi Beverly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am an author. My first novel was published 20 years ago. My husband and I retired to Murrells Inlet six years ago. Before we were here for two years, he suddenly passed away. For me, writing filled the void. I am currently finishing my fifth novel in the Murrells Inlet Beach series. Each book has romance, drama, suspense, and words to encourage. The series is wholesome, with a subtle message about God’s grace. The characters are diverse, with different struggles. As the reader connects with the story, my desire is they also connect with the characters’ resolution to see and do life differently. I spent years in Women’s Ministries before moving to the beach. My stories come from my vast interaction with women and their issues.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My life has been easier and more challenging than others. I was married to my husband for 49 years. We had our share of highs and lows. Over the years, I faced losses, like so many others, but each loss drove me closer to knowing God. I believe we are left on this earth to love others as God does, accepting people as they are where they are. God’s grace is unconditional love. I have found that the closer I walk with God, the easier it is to see others through His eyes. We are called to love, not to criticize, judge, or transform. Transformation is real, but it is God’s job, not ours. I have also written non-fiction books about God’s grace: God Understands Stupid, God’s Got Your Back, God Bottles Our Tears, and The Grace Makeover. My most recent non-fiction book is about King David, titled Love, Sex & A King. All of these books result from my study and my personal experiences.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My life journey has given me a discerning perspective on people and healing. I have learned that the best path to peace and joy is knowing God, not through religion, but through a personal relationship. My highest desires are to encourage and to make God’s grace and unconditional love simple to understand. I believe it can be transformed in the areas of anger, fear, anxiety, depression, resentment, and grief. Everyone desires a life of joy and peace. I am proud of the letters, texts, and comments I get from people who are helped and encouraged by my books. I write books about our relationship and walk with God, not about religion. That sets me apart from some of the other Christian writers.
What’s next?
My plan for the future is to keep writing. I love the process and have many readers who wait for my next book to be printed. I am very content with my life. At this stage, I do not need big changes.
