Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Nicola.
Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
ANPOV Photography, also known as Amanda Nicola’s Point of View, was birthed during the pandemic. Two reasons sparked my interest in being a photographer: I was a model already and wanted to take photos since that was pretty complicated in 2020. I noticed that there weren’t many black women photographers in the area. As a little girl, I almost always got a brand-new camera and practiced becoming a model. The desire to be a published model became apparent before the end of 2018. Who would have imagined that all I needed to do to get there was shave my head? That decision opened possibilities for me; it allowed me to be in tune with my creative side and build confidence. I modeled at runway events, barber expos near the District of Columbia, and hair shows. My journey served as a teaching tool and an inspiration for other women and young girls. I want to keep implementing this with ANPOV Photography—especially those in the pee dee who desire to become a model and build their portfolio. Amanda Nicola’s Point of View is about seeing one’s potential through another perspective and bringing families and couples together. ANPOV is about giving one a voice they didn’t think they had because a picture is worth a thousand words that everyone deserves to share.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy. Balancing my personal life, given that I am a wife and mother, has been tricky, but it hasn’t stopped me. For more details, finding the motivation to keep going has been the most significant obstacle during pregnancy and even postpartum—the feeling of staying on top and not getting left behind when I am in mom mode. I tell myself that opportunities for me will present themselves at the appropriate time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer based in Florence, SC, traveling around the surrounding areas. I specialize in about anything: lifestyle photos, branding, real estate, events, editorials, fashion, and creativity. I also promote helping beginner or experienced models build their portfolios. Every model needs a great portfolio to get signed with an agency. My team edifies in posing, networking, building confidence, etc. I am proud of my brand; my pov(point of view) creates fellowship and happiness for others. What sets me apart is my creativity & editing style; I do not have a particular niche that most photographers stick with. One photo is moody and nostalgic, and another could be light and airy. According to my reviews, I am professional, patient, hospitable, and meticulous.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
An easy way to support me is by sharing my work through social media, referral, or following me. I love meeting new people and networking! If anyone is interested in working together, visit my website and let’s create some magic!
