Community Highlights: Meet Vincent Dalessio of Makin Moves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Dalessio.

Hi Vincent, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After attending Coastal Carolina University and working for Wyndham Resorts, I found a big need in the community. Lots of retirees were moving to the area, and a lot of my friends who were active service members or military veterans were looking for work. I knew there was an opportunity to provide value to both communities, as well as provide work and moving services to many others who needed it as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every entrepreneurial journey comes with peaks and valleys. As a company, we have navigated many social issues, staffing issues, and even tragically deaths of team members from incidents not related to the job. Working thru Covid brought a whole new form of challenges, having to lift heavy furniture in the summer heat of Myrtle beach with masks on. We were able to provide work to many people who had been laid off during Covid, and help keep their bills paid until their jobs returned. Overall it has been an extremely rewarding experience

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in moving labor. Basically, that means we load and unload rental trucks, portable storage containers or trailers. We specialize in saving customers money by providing the labor and coaching them to arrange transport separately. By having this model we are also able to provide work to many people who need it, whether it be part-time or full-time. Our brand is reliable and provides great customer service as well as treats our workers with respect and dignity. We are very flexible and specialize in last-minute moving solutions!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
A large majority of our movers are active or former military, but not all. We provide work to anyone willing to work hard and be a team player. During Covid, there were many layoffs, and we provided work to many laid-off city employees like lifeguards and even policemen. We aim to provide value to the community in any way we can!
