Hi Shantika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Shantika South Carolina native and the face of the business( Glo Skin Wokz). I refer to myself as the “Experienced Entrepreneur” because I have Walked the Talk! Having suffered the effects of challenging skin care and overcoming it myself, I developed a desire to help others gain their confidence back. My business is driven by a space of passion and self-belief. In 2019 I joined Columbia’s Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology Esthetics program and graduated with my certification in 2020. After graduating with my Esthetics Certification, I became a Licensed Esthetician by the Board of Cosmetology in 2020, which made me qualified to perform professional esthetics services. Today I am a Spa owner and have the ability and knowledge to give my customers a quality spa experience. I have created a safe place for people to shed the stresses of life, and recharge before heading back out. I have invested and will continue to invest in my education and coaches so that my business will continue to run efficiently and effectively.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My business has not always been a smooth road. There have been many struggles along the way, like not having the proper knowledge about being a business owner, how to run a spa business smoothly, finding a safe location, or not purchasing quality equipment to better serve my clients.
We’ve been impressed with Glo Skin Workz, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Glo Skin Workz served customers using primarily a variety of waxing and facial services and is now embarking on a new leg of our journey to position ourselves as a wellness entity. Our vision is to create a world of people that benefits from the effects of self-love and self-care. We offer our clients a quality customer experience from start to finish. We cater to their mental and physical needs, and always ensure our clients experience run smoothly. We stay up to date on advanced trainings, always make sure our equipment is working properly, and we are knowledgeable about our products, to deliver the skin results that our clients desire. Our space is clean, comfortable, and we always follow disinfection protocols. We aim to unleash the most beautiful self from the inside and make a difference through wellness, balance, mental health, and ethnic skin care. We specialize in a holistic approach to solving skincare issues for women with dark spots, hormonal acne, rough texture skin, sensitive skin, and uneven skin tone. Your lifestyle choices, mental, and physical health, make their way to show on your skin. Lack of sleep, stress, diet, hormonal imbalances, ethnic predispositions all manifest onto your skin, whether in the form of acne, dull, tired skin tone, laugh lines, or dark spots. We solve these skincare issues by treating your wellness from the inside, and out. We offer a range of services, all of which when connected, leave you feeling healed, restored, destressed, at peace- and more robust, confident, and more beautiful than ever.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are looking for other licensed professionals to join our team, like established independent contractors or someone that recently became a licensed professional and looking for somewhere to start- an opportunity to earn commission pay. We are always looking for local journalists or influencers to collaborate with to tell our story and in return, they will receive a free spa service.
