Community Highlights: Meet Nicole Edwards of Edwards Tutoring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Edwards.

Nicole Edwards

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Edwards tutoring started in the summer of 2020, the height of the pandemic when education was still virtual, and COVID-19 was at an all-time high. I started promoting myself on Facebook, and my friends would repost me, and then the families started coming. Today my tutoring business is online and in-person here in Greenville County. I want to serve and change students’ perspectives on education one student at a time.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Not! The struggle of entrepreneurship is something a lot of people need to see. We see the good on social media, but entrepreneurship is not for the weak. I would lose students due to their families having financial issues, Parents would cancel or not even show up, and when that happened, I didn’t know what to do. I prayed many nights over my business and kept promoting myself to reach the next level.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your business.
Edwards Tutoring is a tutoring service that provides educational services for scholars who need help filling in the gaps in the classroom. We offer Reading and Math tutoring for grades 4k through 9th grade. We pride ourselves on providing 5-star service to our families and getting our tutees to the next level. We are different from others because we put students first. We test our students to see where they are in their education; then, we provide an individualized education plan for every student set to their learning style and level. We provide a fun and safe environment; our reviews speak for themselves. We send weekly updates and monthly newsletters to keep our families updated on everything going on in Edwards Tutoring.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Keep God first in whatever you do. Always promote yourself because you never know who will need your services. No one can promote you like you. Always keep business cards wherever you go, and use your social media to show your followers what you sell or the services you provide.
