Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Czapla.
Hi Miranda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had an interest in fitness. My parents always made it a part of my life growing up and stressed its importance. However, my love for fitness was birthed out of my journey. I didn’t find fitness as a career right away. I graduated high school with my cosmetology license and began cutting hair as my source of income. I soon realized that, although I have a passion for hair, it did not fulfill me and make me happy every day. I took the risk of leaving my stability in the hair industry, taking the leap, and starting my fitness career. I had amazing mentors that helped me build a foundation and grow. I became confident that personal training was where I wanted to focus my efforts, but it took some time. I had to build a certain level of confidence and assurance to believe I could take that leap. It wasn’t until I felt I was no longer growing or benefitting from where I was that I took the leap of faith to start my own personal training business. It was an ordained decision and the best thing I could have ever done.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Although I have had amazing opportunities and doors that I feel were specifically opened for me, it has not necessarily been a smooth road. The journey getting there was bumpy. I struggled with severe anxiety before I took the step to go out on my own. I allowed the environment of my past workplace to grab ahold of my mental state to the point that I internalized so much conflict it led to physical illness. However, the troubled place I was in pushed me to realize it was time to move on and take a risk. I hate to think back on the person I had turned into before this time, but God used it to lead me to his plan.
One of the biggest struggles that I am still working through to this day, and will forever be stamped on my heart, is the passing of my mother. My mother, Virginia, passed away on June 16, 2023, only about 3 months into starting my own business. Words cannot describe the impact this has had on my life. My mom was my best friend, the one I confided in, my biggest supporter, the one I felt safe in, and my forever love. As much as I wanted to, this event was not something I could push through, and it would be over; it inevitably affected me mentally and physically, and if I didn’t have that, my business would be affected as well. Because of the supportive community around me and the love and understanding of my clients, I could go through my grieving process first and attend training second. I still have good days and bad days, but knowing that no matter what, my clients will support whatever I have left to offer that day releases me from the bondage of anxiety. My mom was always proud of me for taking the step of faith to do what I love every day, and I promise to keep that as I succeed and soar over expectations.
As you know, we’re big fans of Zap Fitness. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
I offer one-on-one personal training, group training, and virtual and in-person fitness classes. I train various fitness levels and skill sets, from people who are just starting their fitness journey and want to improve their health while feeling confident in their body to people who are more experienced in an exercise routine and want to take their goals to the next level. I specialize in training athletes who wish to refine their skill sets with speed and agility to make them stand out. Although this is a wide variety of clientele, I genuinely enjoy meeting every person on their journey.
The specific attention I provide to each client sets me apart in the training industry. I outline goals for each client we can work towards in each session. Having my clients leave the training feeling accomplished is very important to me. Even if the client does not feel that they performed how they wanted, it is important to me to show them that that is just the starting block and it’s part of the process in their journey. I share my client’s triumphs and show them what they are capable of, even when they don’t believe in themselves. It is not just about providing a service but building a relationship.
I truly enjoy working with people in the community sharing my passion for health and fitness to help instill that value in others. I partner with corporate businesses to better the health of their employees and show them how important it is in their daily lives. I provide classes based on the needs of the workers and meet them wherever they are on their health and fitness journey.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The unique part about my industry is that it will never go away; if anything, its importance will only increase. As awareness of the frightening state of our population’s health starts to spread, the food we consume and the lack of physical activity put even more emphasis on proper nutrition and physical fitness. Sickness and illness run rampant in our world, and so much of it starts with how we take care of our bodies. There will always be different workout trends that will spread on social media or the Internet, but when it comes down to it, the basics will always stand true. Studies will update us on the safest and most effective ways to stay healthy, which is why I need to stay on top of new information. As social media spreads fitness trends, everyone will tell you their “special” formula for getting your dream body, which is the best way. However, none of this will matter without your determination and consistency. That’s where I come in; it is my job to keep you committed to the process, even when it is not enticing.
