Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Sinbandit. 

Hi Joanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Joanna Sinbandit, I am originally from Minnesota, and Greenville, SC has been my home for 7 years. I am the owner and founder of New Horizon Tax and Financial Services and I consider myself a serial entrepreneur. Since childhood, I’ve dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur. Inspired by my cousin who was an accountant, I started preparing taxes for friends and family at the age of 19. My passion for helping others, my reputation for exceptional customer service, and my eye for detail led me to follow my dreams. After seeing the demand for my services, I decided to start New Horizon Tax and Financial Services, which now proudly serves over 600 clients nationwide. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As an entrepreneur, everyone has their own road map to success. My road has been difficult but rewarding. Learning to balance home and work was a challenge but being a mother of four my children are truly the inspiration behind my business. One struggle that many entrepreneurs face, that I also faced is making the decision to leave the stability of their corporate position to devote all their time to growing their business. With so many tax preparation businesses everywhere, I never looked at the competition, I was more focused on providing top-notch service to my clients. That focus has resulted in rapid growth for New Horizon Tax and Financial Services.

We offer transparent and professional Tax Preparation services done so ethically and with integrity to ensure that IRS guidelines are met. Our goal is to offer our clients exceptional service while preparing their federal and state income taxes whether it is for individuals or small businesses. We’re not just your average tax preparer, we are your PERSONAL-Professional Tax Preparer. 

What sets me apart from others is my passion for helping individuals manage and grow their personal and financial well-being by educating them about the tax preparation process. I would like to give each client confidence in the tax decision they make for themselves and their loved ones. 

I am proud of the hard work and dedication that I put in to build my brand from the ground up. I have built long-term relationships with my clients on a business and personal level.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid-19 helped grow my business in many ways. During the Covid-19 crisis we offered virtual tax consultations to our clients, we have a mobile app for their convenience, and they didn’t even have to step foot in our office to complete their tax preparation. We took the necessary precautions when meeting our clients in person by following CDC guidelines. We also assisted many small businesses in obtaining relief from the disaster. I learned to be open and flexible to change. Covid-19 confirmed that my practices of staying in compliance and in the know about the tax preparation industry prepare me to accept and adapt quickly to whatever life may throw at you.
