Community Highlights: Meet Gerry and Stephanie Jean George of Carolina Roots Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerry and Stephanie Jean George. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Gerry and Stephanie Jean George

Drs. Gerry and Stephanie Jean met in dental school and attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine. They later married, and both worked as associates in Charleston, SC. It was always a dream of theirs to be able to work and serve their patients together. Family is one of the initial main reasons that brought them to the Fort Mill area. Once they started getting a better feel for the area, picking a spot for their office was exciting. Together, they worked hard to build an office where patients and staff would enjoy coming and wouldn’t feel like a typical dentist’s office. Being part of the community and creating lasting relationships is important to both.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has only sometimes been a smooth road. The Georges had their 2nd child 2 months before moving, so they were figuring out how to finish construction on their business and adjust to a family of 4. There were also many construction delays and county requirements that slowed progress. But having been at it for 2 years, they now have the benefit of perspective.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Carolina Roots Dentistry?
Carolina Roots Dentistry is a husband-wife-owned family and cosmetic general dentist office. Dr. Gerry and Dr. Stephanie Jean George are general dentists who offer various services such as cleanings, crowns, root canals, extractions, tooth whitening, and fillings. One of the things that sets them apart is that they live in the community they serve and want to create lasting relationships with their patients. With a new building and state-of-the-art technology, they can make going to the dentist a little more relaxing. From when a patient calls the office and is greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff to when they schedule their next appointment, Dr. Gerry and Dr. Stephanie Jean want each patient to have a pleasant experience. They have TVs mounted on the ceiling so patients can stream a show or listen to music during their appointment and monitors on the side to explain to patients recommended treatment. It is a great environment for the whole family, children and adults alike! As a family of 5 now, they understand how nice it is to find a healthcare office where the entire family can be excellently served and enjoy going. Carolina Roots Dentistry opened in February 2022, and it has already been such an honor for Dr. Georges to be able to help create happy and healthy smiles!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons learned is perseverance. Due to construction and county delays, Carolina Roots Dentistry opened much later than anticipated. Staffing and other shortages and delays continued to help Dr. Georges gain more patience and perseverance.
